My wife and I had dinner and drinks at 1606 for two nights of our stay in Gloucester. The Beauport was lovely and it was great having this restaurant right downstairs. The falafel plate and Korean fried chicken sandwich were both very good. We also liked the Siren Sunset and the Dreamscape cocktails. Our waitress was great, the energy was lively but not too loud. The rooms and hallways of the hotel were so quiet that you would never think there were that many people there, but there were several groups at the bar both nights. On Thursday night they had a live pianist playing. The bar is open late. The drinks were strong but tasty.

Perfect Holiday Party Venue
We hosted a “friends” holiday party fireside at The Beauport Hotel and it was absolutely wonderful. Emily (Restaurant AGM) was fantastic helping with the planning, with Gail (Hostess Manager) stepping in seamlessly to ensure everything ran smoothly, staying way over her already long shift. Chef Jon and his team delivered incredible food, and our servers, Katie and Chelsea, were so attentive and went way out of their way to ensure we had a wonderful time throughout the evening.
The Beauport Hotel setting is truly magical — it genuinely feels like Christmas the moment you walk in. The décor is beautiful, the atmosphere inviting, and the team clearly cares about creating special experiences. We also hired local piano player Jack Favazza, who added the perfect festive touch.
Our friends had an amazing night, and we’re so lucky to have The Beauport right here in our backyard. Thanks for all you do!

Location & Atmosphere: absolutely perfect. ️ We ate outside, and the weather couldn’t have been better — a little chilly with the sun shining just right. The restaurant’s deck overlooks the beach and offers the most refreshing ocean breeze.
The staff was pleasant and welcoming, though I didn’t interact too much, so I can’t recommend anyone specific to sit with. The food, however, was pure chef’s kiss. ✨ If you order anything here (even though it’s a bit on the pricey side), please make it the lobster roll. It was our first one ever, and wow — buttery, fresh, and prepared to perfection. The roll itself was soft, and the lobster melted in your mouth.
Parking was free, which was a nice surprise, and after lunch, the beach walk made for the perfect way to end the meal — whether you’re on a romantic date or, like me, spending the afternoon with family.
The only small miss: my dirty martini wasn’t quite as “dirty” as I prefer. The waitress actually mentioned it as she dropped it off and kindly offered to add more olive juice. The bleu cheese olives were delicious, so I didn’t fuss (and yes, I happily drank it). Next time, I’d love if the bar fixed it up before it came out — but that’s a tiny note in an otherwise perfect experience.
Bottom line: this place is a must-try!

Had a fabulous Thanksgiving today at 1606! Loved my turkey dinner with marvelous gravy, mashed potatoes, squash, stuffing and gravy! Also, loved the pumpkin pecan pie! service was amazing! So busy and it felt so serene at the table! Would wholeheartedly recommend!

We had a wonderful breakfast sitting on the outdoor terrace overlooking the Gloucester harbor. It couldn’t have been a more beautiful setting on a Friday late morning! We enjoyed the Fisherman’s breakfast which included a New England touch of baked beans, brown bread, grilled tomatoes, greens and eggs (your way). The Eggs Benedict platter was also so plentiful and plated attractively. The wait staff was attentive and cheerful. It was also interesting to see the artwork in the lobby and the unique gift shop that sells well-priced unique items.

Really good service and vibes. I had oysters to start and the sea bass for my meal. My daughter had chowder and calamari. My meal would have been 10/10 if the skin was crispy all over but only the edges were. Flavor made up for that tiny note. Will remember that dish probably forever.

I just had the most amazing lunch with my husband! Our server was Katie (Giggles)…one of my favorites! She’s so friendly and bubbly. Plus she’s also very knowledgeable with the menu and so attentive! I wanted the Korean fried chicken sandwich but don’t like very spicy foods so Katie got me a sample of the sauce. Glad she did because it was too spicy for me! I got the panko crusted haddock sandwich instead…excellent choice! Fresh and delicious as always. I also got the shrimp and corn soup…so filling and yummy! (Too filling!) Pete got the short rib sandwich. It was more like a sub! It was so big he had to eat it with a fork and knife. There was so much beef…cooked to perfection and so tender! The portions were so huge we both took leftovers home. I love getting 2 meals for the price of one! And getting the night off from cooking. Oh, if you like to drink cocktails but don’t drink alcohol you have to try the bees knees mocktail. It is so good! And served in an elegant martini glass with edible flowers. It was so good I got 2! And ate the flowers! Lol
