158 Main is a charming bakery and restaurant in a small town, and it truly feels like the local gathering spot where everyone knows each other. We stopped by to pick up some fresh bread and enjoyed a mimosa at the bar. The atmosphere is welcoming and cozy, with staff that make you feel like part of the community.

Beyond the bakery, they serve full breakfasts and lunches, so it’s not just about pastries — you can sit down for a proper meal. The mimosa we had was delicious, and everything we saw coming out of the kitchen looked tempting.

One small heads-up: while you can pay for food and drinks by card, the bakery section is cash-only. So, if you’re planning to grab bread or pastries, make sure to bring some cash along. Overall, a lovely stop that perfectly fits the vibe of this little town!

Went here to get dinner on a Friday night and were seated immediately . The food is okay (burger was good, fries were below average), the service is great.

We visited the restaurant on a Sunday, and it was quite crowded. I would highly recommend making a reservation, as we still had to wait for a table despite having one. However, the wait was well worth it as the food was absolutely delicious. I also purchased some freshly baked goods, which were reasonably priced. Please note that the restaurant accepts credit cards, but the bakery section only accepts cash. Will definitely go back.

This restaurant reminds many older locals of their youth… for the amazing bread, or farther back when it was a hardware store. Nowadays it is known more for an amazing selection of tasty, scratch-made food; both breakfast and lunch… until 2pm. You will have the most trouble choosing. Oh, their salads are ginormous, as are most servings. You may have to wait, due to limited waitstaff, but the food and friendliness will not disappoint you. Booth, table and bar service. Reservations are recommended if you want to get seated quickly. Bread is still for sale; first come, first served. Family friendly, high chairs for the littles. Cash/CC.

Ugh… why can’t there be a place like this near where I live?

I stopped in here while visiting my friend who lives nearby. I wanted a kind of greasy spoon, diner breakfast… something I hadn’t had in a long time.

I was so happy to find 158 Main. It fit the bill, cute atmosphere, big portions, attentive service, and down-home cooking.

I couldn’t believe they had SOS (chipped beef and gravy) on the menu. I’ve only ever had the frozen version at home. I couldn’t order it fast enough and was so so happy I did. The gravy had a deep, great flavor and was in perfect ratio to the toast. The potatoes where nice and crispy and the eggs were seasoned just right.

I would 100% be a regular here if I lived nearby.

EXCELLENT! It’s hard to find a place that checks ALL the boxes. The food was excellent and so was the service. They treat you like family here. The menu had a vast array of breakfast and brunch options and it certainly did not disappoint. They have homemade bread that was out of this world. These pictures don’t do justice. If they tell you there is a wait just do it and don’t even think about it you will not be disappointed.

Had to wait awhile for a table. The place was packed! Service was great! Waitress was visiting table and asking if we needed anything. The place smelled heavenly–smelled the bread made on premises. Dug into food when set in front of us. Delicious! California omelette was light and fluffy and tasty. The home fries were crispy on the outside and soft and mushy on the inside. I thought they were seasoned to perfection, my husband thought they were bland. His Farmer’s plate was great! The blueberry pancakes were so good that I never got a taste. Come in hungry! Lots of wonderful food to try! Sorry about the pictures, the food was so good, I forgot to takes pictures till it was almost done. Took off atmosphere rating because every time the door opened, you would get a blast of cold air on the legs–high back benches protected the back. Single digit VT weather, I wasn’t prepared for.

We have had brunch at “158 Main” twice now, once in April 2024 and just the past weekend in October 2025.

This restaurant has a local diner feel. They have a very large menu, and it all feels like diner food, which is not a bad thing.

They are always very busy – if you want to eat here, get a reservation. Talking to our server, he said that they had no open tables, if you didn’t have a reservation (We did) if you got in at all, you’d have to wait 1.5 hrs minimum.

A busy place on a busy ski week-end. So be sure to make a reservation. Typical diner brunch menu. They also have a bakery that shares their kitchen so are not safe for some gluten free folks. They do not offer a Gf bread option at all. I had eggs Benedict on their corned beef hash. I thought the hash was a bit salty but the eggs were cooked perfectly and the Benedict sauce was excellent with lots of lemon flavor. If you are not gluten sensitive the blueberry pancakes look great and you can buy a loaf of bread or cookies to take home.
