Delicious sushi! The restaurant doesn’t have a liquor license yet so I got a complimentary glass of wine and my husband got a sweet and sour! The service was great and there was great live music. We ordered the shrimp tempura roll and the sweet and spicy roll.

Would give it another chance. Everything was acceptable, nothing stood out. If someone asked me about it, I would probably tell them it wasn’t worth it or recommend another similar place
Atmosphere (2/5): When we walked in, the place was very empty since they are brand new and only opened a few weeks ago. I immediately went to the bathroom, where I unfortunately was swarmed by various flies. Additionally, this place had an overall vibe of a sports bar. They had a single musician playing live music, mostly country – which doesn’t fit the vibe of sushi or Hawaii. Then the restaurant also had the fights on, which felt very sports bar esq.
Service (4/5): We opted to sit outside, and was promptly greeted and taken care of. The food came out extremely quickly and the service was great! Only down side is the restaurant did not have their liquor license yet.
Food (3/5): the crispy rice was very phenomenal! The rolls were great, nigiri was also great minus the tamago which came out looking greenish?

Disappointed!
We were excited to try this new sushi Peruvian fusion spot in the neighborhood but unfortunately weren’t terribly impressed.
First Impression
We had a reservation and when we arrived the guy at the front of the house seemed less than enthused to be assisting folks. Upon checking in we said we’d love an outdoor space if possible (which there were plenty) and he responded with an attitude that it was filling up fast. He sat us first of the 5 groups waiting and stuffed us in a tiny corner even though there were plenty other tables indoor and out. We then noticed he sat another party, with no reservation outdoors- very disappointing to us.
Server
Tamara was lovely. Most of the other staff seemed out of it and not stoked to be there.
Food
Mediocre and overpriced. We ordered the lomo saltado ($38) a typical Peruvian dish, which had too much sauce, hardly any beef and mostly french fries. The ceviche sampler ($34) included 2 tiny ceviches and 1 poke- not really interested in poke when we order ceviche. We also ordered edamame ($9), hamachi sashimi ($24) and two non-alcoholic beers ($12). Total for 2 people was $120 + tip we left spending $150. Appetizers arrived after the main course.
Not planning to come back here anytime soon.

This place left a lot to be desired, particularly for Wailea. Food was good overall, and the presentation was also good. Neither was great though. As at least one other reviewer noted, the vibe was off…we thought the decor smacked of lunch, not dinner, as it was overly lit. Live music detracted from the experience as it was a lot of 90s country, so kinda weird, and too loud. Edamame came out a third warm, a third cold, a third still frozen. So we sent it back. One would figure that they’d take care to heat it adequately the second time…one would figure wrong…still cold. Attention to detail all around was off. Gratuity added to a party of 5? Not cool. Not that I’d have stiffed the waiter (even though the wait staff was rather aloof), but just not cool.
Doubt I’d return, but if some of the kinks were worked out, maybe. Probably not with Morimoto close by though.

Cute new sushi addition to the wailea game!! great spot, indoor or outdoor seating:) all the staff is super friendly, extensive sushi list, and it all tasted great. the ceviche was a little funky, not your traditional ceviche, or at least the norm. the miso soup was pretty bland, and we ordered the port ceviche, and it looked more like a soup/curry. the sauce was delicious, a little spicy a little sour, but the fish/octopus was in massive chunks that were hard to eat.

We stumbled upon this restaurant after golfing and it was so delicious and fresh we came back twice. We went to all the well known, fancy resort restaurants in Wailea and 1111 Nikkei’s food blew those other restaurants out of the water. Since they are new, their liquor license was delayed but they kindly let us bring our own liquor in. Our server, Dominic was very kind and attentive. We recommended 1111 Nikkei to some other friends vacationing on the island and they also ended up eating there twice because they liked it so much! Some highlights were the ahi ahi role (spicy tuna roll with ahi poke on top) and the sticky shrimp. Can’t recommend this place enough, I wish I could fly back to Maui and eat there again. They also had gluten free soy sauce which is great for one of us who can’t have gluten!

Everything we ate was 10/10. We ordered the calamari, sticky shrimp (spicy), hamachi crudo, the senshi roll, hamachi san maki, rainbow roll, and the 1111 fried rice. The sushi was so fresh and everything tasted delicious and perfect temperature. Servers were polite and food came within a reasonable amount of time. Really enjoyed the vibes. Price was reasonable. Highly recommend this place, and will definitely be returning again soon!

We enjoyed the food and the service. We were seated quickly and didn’t wait long for the food. I’m certain that will change as more people visit and the restaurant becomes more popular. Highly recommend.

Highlights:
• Mocktails: Exceptional! Creative and refreshing.
• Sushi: Fresh and flavorful.
• Fish Tacos: Delicious and well-prepared.
• Service: Friendly and attentive.
Room for Improvement:
• Ambiance: The large windows allow for great natural light, but the sun was blaring down during our visit. Adding blinds or shades would significantly enhance the dining experience.
Overall Experience:
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to 1111 Nikkei Sushi. The food, drinks, and service were all impressive, and despite the minor issue with the sun, we look forward to returning!
