The food was great! We ordered a few things in the menu: Fried fish, lumpia, Kare-Kare, palabok, chicken wings, fish Sisig and Halo-Halo. I loved everything. Except I think they fell short on the lumpia. I think they gave like 3 or 5. It’s not enough for the price we paid. But it was good.
Now the Halo-Halo it wasn’t as pretty as I thought it going to look and it tasted ok. But that thing was huge! Big enough for 5 people!
I think the restaurant is fairly new is what I was told. So the service was ok. They need improvement. The food came one by one. Like they didn’t bring them all at once. It was weird and we had a big group so when one thing came we ate it and then we were on idle. And they messed up on our order.
I give them 4 stars though on the entertainment. We had a blast with the karaoke and the pool tables. I hope we have an even better time next time we come.
The reply of the owners on a recent review by someone is hilarious! Just because someone’s total wasn’t $30 doesn’t mean the prices aren’t $30!! Because it is. So expensive! We paid $30 each for entrees. The buffet wasn’t expensive but if you’re doing a la carte yes. Second, they completely disregarded the two most important parts. One is that there’s roaches and second is the hair on food. There wasn’t any hair on my food but yes they do have bugs and that is a health and safety issue. If the owner cared so much about the employees she’s paying she would make sure her restaurant is clean. I’m not speaking for others but definitely wouldn’t come here again.
They had all the main items: Pork Belly Sinigang, Pork Adobo, Chicken Adobo, Pancit, Lumpia. My wife got some chicharrones, jeprox fish, and some full body fried shrimp. Food satisfies. Not gonna lie. It’s served on Styrofoam plates, with plastic silverware. Get into the mindset of eating at your family gathering, and you’ll be in good shape. Food is plentiful and flavors are all on point. For $25, their AYCE is a steal. Plus their turon hits the spot and the Halo Halo is ginormous!
Came on a Tuesday evening and other parties were enjoying the pool and karaoke spaces throughout.
If you like trying all types of food and cuisine then this restaurant is another place to try exotic food. In my time in the military I was able to experience so many types of food of the world.
Filipino cuisine is a combination of so many other foreign dishes, Asian / Chinese/ Thai / Mexican / Japanese etc.
This Filipino restaurant represents only 2 or 3 restaurants that serve Filipino food in Reno.bTambayan translated means “hangout” in English. It is located in an unassuming parking lot in central Reno with many other restaurants and shops. Parking is plentiful.
Upon entering you find yourself in an entertainment area and bar. There are billiards and karaoke nightly.
In the back of the building is the food area. There is an area for group special events. When I was there a group of postal workers had gathered for a retirement party. On the other side of the dining area was a small grocery area that specialized in Filipino grocery goods. A good selection of canned and dry foods.
As for the food, if you are not sure what to eat, there is a ayce buffet of Filipino food and or ayce sushi. The menu is comprehensive of favorite Filipino foods, pancit a noodle dish much like chow mein, lumpia like Chinese egg rolls, meat dishes menudo a Mexican dish with a Filipino flair, chicken and pork adobo. These dishes prepared in a soy sauce, vinegar and garlic sauce. Accordingly vegetable dishes, with butter melon, okra, squash, Chinese beans etc.
Usually two soups offered for the buffet. My favorite is the sinigang beef and or pork.
I opted for the buffet. The buffet is offered 7 days a week. Sunday is a seafood buffet . Call for times as they differ by day.
I opted for fried garlic rice as it was still breakfast, tocino (Filipino bacon) longanisa (Filipino style sausage/ Portuguese longuinisa. Then some fried pork like Mexican chicharon, and then pancit and lumpia. To drink San Miguel pale ale beer and for dessert a sweet concoction called “Halo Halo”. Too many ingredients to note.
In all, again another great food experience in Reno Nevada.
Let the experiences continue.
