Good afternoon everyone. For today’s review (don’t you all get spoiled thinking I’m doing this every day..lol)I will be reviewing Antojitos Mexicanos Edinburg. This location open where Chipotle was. I started my meal with their charro beans. They make them totally different from what I’m use to. Before the pandemic, we would very frequently visit the Tenton Location and the beans where a hit or miss. This time, they where a hit. Just a little salt and they where pleasantly good. We also order a papa sincilla. I’ve always asked that they warm it way up. One thing I’ve never liked is semi hot potato that can’t melt all the cheese. Papa was nice and hot and my wife preps it perfectly. On to our main course. We spilt the Plato Surtido. It’s consists of 2 flautas, 2 tostada, 2 blanditos and 2 taquitos de queso blanco and papitas and chili dorado. Over all our meal fed both my wife and I well without over eating. The proportion of the food was well balanced. For a quick bite this would be a great place to visit. Total paid 26.19. Not to bad for the entire family. Till next time.
Food was the blandest, flavorless Mexican I’ve ever eaten…and feel free to check my stats. I’m 10% of all Google map Mexican restaurant reviewers. Issa no from me … I’ll see if my dog wants the chicken since it has no seasoning. Sorry. I’m Disappointed. Halal the $30 I spent.
Oh the lil potatoes were the best part
The RGV has no lack of taco restaurants, and most offer the same. This one stands out for several reasons: modern design, cleanliness, and quality of authentic Mexican food. Tacos, enchiladas, tostadas, tortas, sopes, quesadillas, flautas, papas (baked potatoes), etc. All the “antojitos”.
One of the reasons I like this restaurant is they offer tacos “al pastor” or “trompo” using a real vertical spit which gives the meat a more authentic texture and flavor.
My only observation about the food is each time I’ve ordered something that came with some fried potatoes and salad, there is no salad dressing (which is “authentic” since most places in Mexico do the same) and the potatoes were not cooked enough for my taste. Still, I have always enjoyed the food here. Both dine in and take out.
