We celebrated our engagement with a dinner at the 1 hotel on a Wednesday evening. We reserved the table a month in advance. We had a 15 minute wait for our table, but we spent that time at the bar adjacent to the restaurant. It was worth the wait since we had an intimate experience and the dining room wasn’t teeming with diners.
Our service was spectacular. The right level of conversation and engagement. Great knowledge of the menu even though our waitron was only 2 months in.
The food was the center piece of the evening. It was something to write home about. We kept it easy. Kale salad, pork belly, and the paella. The pork belles was juicy and textured and the paella was abundant and not crunchy. Well cooked. Great flavors and the star of the show.

Really solid lunch spot with a focus on healthy, flavorful food that doesn’t weigh you down. We had the Wellness Bowl (very balanced) and the Turkey Club. The sourdough was great, tomatoes were actually ripe, and the chips were addictive! Surprisingly, it didn’t break the bank for a hotel restaurant. Note: Parking is tricky since the public lot is small, so be prepared to valet at the hotel.

This a gorgeous hotel and restaurant. But it’s horribly overpriced and the experience isn’t positive. We spent over $1100, and overheard a staff member complaining to another member that we were a cheap table and hardly worth the night. They also guilt tripped us by saying we only got in for it being someones wedding. I see no reason to ever go back. There are other places on the island way more worth your dollar.

Get the poke bowl!!! So tasty. The tacos were okay but not outstanding. We went during lunch where the prices seemed a little bit more reasonable. I don’t think we would go for their breakfast, buffet or dinner. It just seemed a little bit overpriced. Killer views and the staff also encouraged us to hang out around the hotel and check it out, which would be beautiful. Be advised. There is no free parking you have to use valet, and it will be at least thirty dollars

Great outdoor dining option with a view of Hanalei bay and the scenic north shore mountains. For a place with the view, expected food to be quite mid but the poke bowl and veggie salad bowl were nice. Good cocktail selection. Not too much lunch options with a more breakfast/brunch focused menu which we did not try. On the pricier side.

I ate here for dinner three times while staying at the hotel in September, and I had an exceptional meal every time. Initially, I was nervous given the number of negative reviews, but I kept coming back to dine here because the food was delicious. The pastas were exceptional—the truffle pasta was one of the best dishes I’ve ever had. The spicy rigatoni was great, too! Agree with other reviews that the place is overpriced, but given the high price of everything in Hawaii, I didn’t think it was that far off. I’d definitely recommend this restaurant.

The valet team set a wonderful first impression, kind, friendly, and efficient. Although there’s an automatic fee, it’s understandable given the setting. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted, and the view from the restaurant is absolutely breathtaking.
That said, the overall experience didn’t quite live up to the stunning first impression. The drinks were okay, the burger was average, and the ceviche lacked that “wow” flavor punch we were hoping for. The chairs were surprisingly uncomfortable, which felt out of place for a restaurant located in a five star hotel.
Our server was genuinely trying his best, but for a venue of this caliber, we expected a bit more polish and consistency. The kitchen seemed to be backed up, and we ended up canceling one of our dishes.
Overall, 1 Kitchen offers beautiful ambiance and friendly service, but the dining experience itself feels a bit underwhelming. Not a bad place to visit, just be prepared for something more “nice” than “memorable.”

Absolutely loved our experience at 1 Kitchen. The food was fresh, beautifully presented, and packed with flavor—everything from start to finish felt clean, healthy, and delicious. The service was top-tier: friendly, knowledgeable, and super attentive without being overbearing. The atmosphere is unmatched—open, airy, and surrounded by nature, giving you a true farm-to-table island vibe. Easily one of the best dining experiences in Kauai. Highly recommend for breakfast, lunch, or dinner—you can’t go wrong!

Food was wonderful. I’m usually underwhelmed by resort food but this did not disappoint! Great place to celebrate a birthday. Price is a little steep, but in line with high end restaurants. Will be back for sure!

The breakfast buffet at 1 Kitchen Hanalei Bay is an absolute treat and the perfect way to start the day in Hanalei. The space itself is bright, airy and offers stunning views that make you want to linger a little longer over your coffee.
The buffet selection strikes a beautiful balance between healthy, locally inspired options and classic breakfast favorites. Fresh tropical fruits perfectly ripe papaya, pineapple and dragon fruit, Watermelon were a highlight, along with fresh-pressed juices that tasted as vibrant as they looked. The hot offerings were equally impressive: fluffy scrambled eggs, crisp bacon, perfectly roasted breakfast potatoes and a rotating selection of chef-driven dishes that felt elevated beyond the typical buffet.
One standout was the bakery section, warm pastries, flaky croissants and housemade breads paired perfectly with local jams and honey. Service was warm and attentive with staff making sure coffee and juice glasses were always full without being intrusive.
The vibe is relaxed yet refined and it never felt rushed or overcrowded. While the buffet leans on the pricier side, the quality of ingredients, presentation and setting make it absolutely worth it.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – Highly recommend if you’re staying in Hanalei or just want to indulge in a memorable breakfast with a view.
