Went here with my kids during soft opening. The staff def have to get into their flow. But every new restaurant does. So it’s forgivable. The staff was friendly and were fast to please though I wasn’t sure they had enough people for the rush that they probably weren’t expecting. I went two nights in a row and it went from a few tables to a packed night. Night and day. Coming from experience they’ll def need to get their flow. But like I said, that’s why you have soft openings,… to iron out the wrinkles.
The food was solid. My kids were happy and around here I’d consider it pretty good. We tried a few different dishes and everything was tasty.
Ambiance is nice. Real clean and bright. The place has a bit of air to it also and doesn’t feel claustrophobic. Feels bigger than other places and the chairs… comfortable.
I’ll be back again to see if they’ve improved. But from the friendliness of the staff, solid food and a clean atmosphere, I’d say we have a winner.
I went on a Wednesday around 8pm and had no issue with anything. I was seated immediately and got my food fast as well. They were actually very accommodating, I had asked to switch to the cushion seat tables as I have a bad lower back and they said no problem and moved me. I ordered the donkatsu as they didn’t have this at the Fort Lee or Palisades Park locations. Honestly it’s now my go-to order from here, it seriously blew my expectations from a jjajangmyun place. The donkatsu was tender inside and crispy outside, the sauce that paired was almost like a perfect blend of sweet and savory. Also got the kangpungi (I think this is how it’s spelled?) it was also really good, super crispy.
The “vibe” and the environment was nice. Forgot to ask but I noticed there’s a bar area so I’m assuming they sell alcohol. But overall great experience with staff and food. I definitely will be coming back for the donkatsu!
As for the food, it’s honestly one of the worst Korean-Chinese restaurants I’ve tried. The Jjampong had no real flavor other than just being spicy. The Tangsuyuk was undercooked and the portion was quite small. The seafood soup(?) was almost a joke.
They really need to revisit and change their recipes if they want people to come back.
We got the tang su yuk, 유니짜장 Yunijjajangmyeon, 짬뽕 Jjamppong, 탕수육 Tangsuyuk, and 깐풍새우 Kkanpungsaeu.
The Jjamppong has a really strong kick to it, so if your spice tolerence is low I would recommend asking them to add less spice or just thug it out.
The portion sizes for all of them were really big, there were a lot of leftovers to take home.We were also really hungry going in, so I’d say this is more than enough for 3-4 people.
Place for lunch and dinner heat in tappan. Recommend 간짜장
Jajangmyeon is normally served quite quickly, so this kind of wait feels unusual. Even if the food were great, waiting this long already ruins the experience — and honestly, the taste wasn’t anything special.
I hope the restaurant considers hiring more staff or finding ways to improve efficiency, rather than ignoring the issue. I don’t think I’ll be coming back, but I wanted to share this feedback.
The food was really disappointing!!! We’ve been to the Pal park & Fort Lee spots numerous times & loved them, but the jjajangmyun in particular just wasn’t good & overall flavors were just off. Tangsooyuk was pretty decent though.
I reallyyy want this location to succeed, so I’m assuming it’s growing pains with opening week & will give it another shot in a few wks. Please hire & train more staff and most importantly, match the flavors from the other locations. If it improves, I’ll happily change this review to 5 stars.
