We had a group dinner of 10 here tonight, and honestly—hands down—this is the best Chinese food I’ve had in the Bay Area.
> Every single dish at Ping’s Bistro (留湘小聚店) was unique and packed with incredible “Wok Hei” (锅气). It has that perfect smoky, fiery flavor you just can’t replicate at home. I lived and worked in China for about 10 years, so I’m super picky about Chinese food, but they completely nailed it. The Yunnan dishes here are legit.
> Of course, a 5-star spot isn’t just about the food; the service has to be on point too. Big shoutout to our server, Xiao Hai (小海). He was incredibly friendly and kept our whole table laughing all night.
> The owner clearly has great taste and runs an amazing team, from the kitchen to the floor staff. 100% recommend. Well deserved 5 stars!

Have come here many times but only have these 2 pics bc I always start eating before rembering to take pictures. Really great appetizers and mains, always lively so be prepared to wait a bit if you were not there when they open. Havnt been to the location in Cupertino so I cannot say which one is better.

Wonderful service and traditional Yunnan food at reasonable prices (each dish is around $20). Yunnan is known for their mushroom dishes, so be sure to try one of those!

They have good flavor and plenty of spice options (they have chili peppers next to the items). You order on a tablet where they have pictures of all the foods, but there are possibly too many choices to make!

Seating can be tight and they’re usually quite busy before 7 PM and then the restaurant starts to clear out. They also offer some nice lemon mint water!

Nice restaurant with a a lot surprising meal such frog, snake soup on the menu. We ordered the chicken and the rice noodles. Very generous amount, however not on our taste. Quite expensive, and have to order rice separately. Probably will not come back.

Yunnan specialty kitchen, with select Sichuan style dishes. Slightly peppercorn numbing, slightly sweet, comfortingly savory menu.

Authentic delivery indicative from the almost-exclusively Chinese-speaking clientele. Not your regular Cantonese or Chinese-American.

Just amazing all around.

The cabbage is savory. The pork and pepper/mushrooms are amazing. The luffah was undersalted though. I didn’t care for the chicken tomato/potato pot but it’s objectively cooked well. The mushroom stir fry is a must get. Cauliflower is cooked perfectly. The sour fish fillet is mid

Used to be my favorite Chinese restaurant in San Mateo county even before they moved from El Camino to Marina Foods plaza.

I loved some of their lunch specials and although they kept on raising prices but at least they taste good.

The service is good as they would wrap leftover food for you instead of just throwing you some togo boxes.

This place used to focus on Hunan but probably sensing a lack of Yunan cuisine they are branching out to Yunan food. I don’t think they are that authentic but at least they are delicious. I really like their Farmers Combo (egg, pork, wood ear mushroom and other stuff), spicy and sour beef, and Iove their conch with special mushrooms.

Their spiciness is authentic so when they say original spicy make sure you can hold your spiciness before being gunho about your tolerance to spicy food.

The place is not large so you may have to wait in the weekend.

I do think the price is too high now especially their frog dishes but I still decided to keep the 5 star rating because it is still one of the best Chinese food restaurants in the Bay Area.

Oh you can also find parking in the rear or side if parking at the front is too crowded.

Hands down one of the best Chinese restaurants in the Bay Area! We usually go to their Fremont location, which specializes in Hunan cuisine. This place is more about Yunnan Cuisine, and literally every single dish we ordered was amazing. Even my friends who usually don’t eat spicy food were so impressed with their food that they are starting to eat spicy because of this place!

If I wasn’t meandering about this plaza, I would not have found this place tucked away in the alley. The lines were what drew my attention and it was PACKED inside.

We came back on a Saturday at 6:30PM. Overall wait time for our party of 6 was 45 minutes. To pass the time you can place your order on an iPad in the waiting area. Our drinks came out promptly after sitting down.

Food was spicy and super flavorful. Ask the server if you’re unsure about the spicy level! Portions were small for the price. But I would come back if I was craving this cuisine and if I had a large group again to order a variety.
