We ordered the Coconut with Chicken for two at Royal Rooster Restaurant and were thoroughly impressed. The soup and chicken were delicious, with a broth made from fresh coconut that added a wonderful depth of flavor. Their special hot sauce paired perfectly with the chicken, enhancing the dish beautifully.

Great service! This place is cozy and welcoming. They do Hong Kong style and the food tastes authentic to me. Especially recommend the hainan chicken and Coconut chicken hotpot!

I love hot pot and couldn’t to try! When I arrived I parked on the street nearby. I walked in and was sat. I was served by a nice man. I had:
House Special Coconut chicken combo
Steamed egg with shrimp
baby shrimp egg fried rice
The food was good just needed a bit of salt. I really liked the house special with the ramen! All in all it was a good experience.

Tried this spot for dinner but walked away disappointed. We ordered the House Special Coconut Chicken Combo for four along with several sides like pepper pig stomach, and sizzling baby ribs casserole. While the coconut chicken broth was flavorful at first, it got greasy quickly and didn’t hold up over time.
The biggest letdown was the baby ribs casserole the meat was extremely salty, overpowering the dish completely. Definitely not balanced or enjoyable.
The pig stomach dish was another disappointment: the portion was extremely small, a tiny plate that barely justified its price, and instead of actual pig stomach, it was filled with what seemed to be vigie, leaving us puzzled and unsatisfied.
Service was where things really fell short. Our plates were full early on with chicken bones and no one came to change them or check in on us during the meal. We spent $154 for the food (with a preset 25% tip), it came out $207 plus tax. this kind of neglect is hard to justify.
The food was just okay, service was inattentive, and the automatic high tip left a bad impression. Honestly, for this price point, there are far better hotpot and Chinese dining experiences in Queens.
Wouldn’t recommend or return.

A unique hotpot spot with great service! I’ve never had this coconut water style hotpot before and didn’t know what to expect. It surprisingly was really tasty! The chicken in the hot pot is also very tender. I also got the pork ribs which were very well cooked. Overall a unique meal worth a try

I am a big fan of coconut chicken hotpot. The Coco rooster at Exit 23 of 495 is temporarily closed so I visited the one at Little Neck here.
Must-try: coconut chicken hotpot, green chili sauce
Compare to the original restaurant: The hotpot menu is similar but offers fewer options for the dishes. It is also slightly pricier. We ordered the signature set for two people and a curry potato chicken, with tax and tips is comes to about $60 per person.
Food: The flavor is delightful. My recommendation is to savor a few bowls of soups first and boil the ingredients afterwords. Their green chili sauce is a favorite of mine. Note that it is very spicy.
Parking: Street parking.

Royal Rooster in Little Neck, Queens is a true find! We dined as a family and enjoyed an unforgettable meal with an impressive lineup of dishes. We started with the Coconut and Fresh Chicken Soup and the Cordyceps Flower and Chicken Soup – both were wonderfully rich and clean-tasting, with no hint of MSG.
The restaurant’s theme is coconut, infusing it into almost every dish, adding a subtle, unique twist to the flavors. We tried the Duck and Taro Casserole stewed in coconut broth, which was flavorful and hearty, and the Stewed Beef with Curry, which also had a hint of coconut that enhanced the curry’s aroma. This coconut infusion added a special touch without overpowering the dishes.
The Stir-Fried Beef Flat Noodles captured that perfect smoky flavor from the wok, and their signature chili sauce added a delightful kick. The Hainanese Chicken, their specialty, was incredibly tender, and the homemade ginger and scallion sauce brought out its flavor beautifully.
The Claypot Rice stole the show – the lightly crispy layer on the bottom added amazing texture without any bitterness. You can tell the chef has mastered the balance of heat. I also heard the chef trained at a renowned hotel in Guangzhou, China, which is clear in the authenticity and quality of each dish.
To wrap up the meal, we tried their Coconut Sago Dessert and the Coconut Pudding, served in an actual coconut. Both desserts were just the right amount of sweet – light, refreshing, and perfect for cleansing the palate. With such reasonable prices for this level of quality, Royal Rooster is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Cantonese flavors. Highly recommend!

Extremely bad dining experience in this restaurant! Don’t let the beautified photos fool you! The actual dishes that they made were so different from the photos. One dish stated that soup would be included. We never got the soup or even offered. We didn’t even bother to ask because it was so chaotic. We sat down for half hour, no waiter or waitress came over to ask if we would like to have anything to drink until we asked. When they cleaned the tables, it was so loud because they threw everything inside with no manner. It made you looking at them and wondered if they knew what they were doing. They tried to make the environment beautiful but they used so cheap and fake materials. I looked at the ceiling, I saw that they covered whatever underneath with plastics. Some parts of the plastics probably falling, so they used regular tapes to “secure” them. It is a potential hazard. There was a switch/outlet under my daughter’s chair. It didn’t look cleaned and safe for us – the customer. I wish the owner/manager will see this review. If he/she wants to continue to have this restaurant, he/she (or they) will need to train the waiters/waitress well and spend some money to fix the decorations and arrange the restaurant better. The experience really made me feel that they just want to get rich fast (暴富) as one of the 招财猫 says that they put on their counter, but they are unwilling to spend money/or to invest money first.

Be prepared for limited English speaking staff. My mandarin isn’t great but they don’t speak Cantonese or English well. If you’ve been to an all-you-can-eat buffet hotpot, this is different. They charge for each dish you order. They don’t just have hotpot though. They do serve hot dishes and rice dishes. I had to try the Hainese chicken. It wasn’t bad. More white meat than dark meat. Also tried the black bean stir fried clams, which was flavorful. I will say that using coconut water as the broth base is interesting. It’s very fragrant but tasted bland. If you order the hotpot, it comes with your choice of noodles to cook, chicken, cabbage and mushrooms. I liked the fish and vegetables broth. It smelled and tasted great. Everything is ordered on the iPad. Everything was in Chinese and English. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I don’t think I’ll be revisiting for the hotpot since I’m used to the all-you-can-eat hotpot buffet, but I wouldn’t mind coming back for the plated dishes and clay pot rice to try.

We’re here for bestie’s pre-bday celebration. Server was extra attentive and super nice! Location was great! We ordered the coconut chicken hotpot and a pig knuckle with peanuts. The hotpot soup base was fragrant and light. We even had a complimentary side dish and free drinks. Will definitely be back!
