Super authentic! Spicy just the way I like it. But you can also adjust the spiciness based on your tolerance. Good service, good food. Waiters are also really friendly!! They are known for 牛蛙 羊蝎子

Came here on a Saturday night, there were not that many people and no need to wait.
The restaurant is clean and very big.
The most outstanding here is their service. We didn’t decide what to order and the waiter approached proactively. He was very patient and explained every single options they have.
We ordered this we saw chicken, the rib, the tofu, lamb dumplings, lamb screwed and the frog. Everything was very palatable and delicious, and the lamb rib with fries was fantastic.

Highly recommend!!

Tianfu in San Mateo is a gem for anyone craving bold, authentic Sichuan flavors. The spice level here is no joke—perfectly balanced and punchy, especially in their standout mapo tofu, where the numbing spice quality is spot-on and transports you straight to Chengdu. The menu’s full of unique dishes, and the quality shines through in every bite, from tender meats to vibrant seasonings. It’s clear they’re serious about delivering a true Sichuan experience, and that authenticity is what makes this place special.

That said, cleanliness could use some work. The dining area felt a bit neglected, which slightly dims the vibe. For me, it’s a 4.5-star spot overall because of that, but I’m rounding up to 5 stars because the food—especially that mapo tofu—is so exceptional it outweighs the flaws. If you’re after spice and flavor with character, Tianfu’s worth it. Just don’t expect a spotless setting.

Lunch specials easy to order, there are pictures when you scan the menu explaining what the lunch specials come with

Liked the Spicy Spring Lamb with Peppercorn in the Hot Wok section: Do you like it when your lips tingle but it’s not overly spicy? There’s a lot of flavor and it builds up. There’s numbing spice and it tingles. Lamb is tender and good

Also liked the Boiled Fish Filet with Pickled Veggies. It was probably not spicy (got it all the same time as spicy dish so hard to tell )

Good food, free WiFi

Recommend!

100% recommended Hot Spicy Frog Pot! It’s so unique and tasty. A little bit spicy but you won’t forget.

There are tons of selected food you can choose to put into the pot. They are with good quality. You won’t regret!

First time here with my husband for lunch. We were absolutely surprised in a good way. We ordered Dan Dan noodles and spicy beef noodle soup and sweet buns. The favor was so rich . We enjoyed very much. But just a little heads up if you can not eat too spicy. You can ask for mild.

Stopped by for lunch on a Saturday. The food was overall very flavorful, and spicy! We got the cauliflower dry pot, Fuqi Feipian, Dan dan noodles, and a lamb skewer.

One thing we appreciated was that the dry pots were smaller than most other restaurants we have been too (also cheaper) so you’re able to order more dishes in one sitting, instead of the dry pot being enough for two people. The Dan dan noodles were technically not on the menu, but the owner/employee let us order it still.

Overall, highly recommend, a great restaurant with reasonable prices.

I like the dry wok frog a lot! Eggplants and duck blood are very tasty. In general everything is in big portion.

A disappointment is the 重庆小面. I didn’t take photo of it, but if you are looking for authentic Szechuan or Chongqing taste, I don’t recommend you try this at all. If you are just looking for a noodle, you might like it if you like 东北麻辣烫, because there is a slight taste of sesame butter in the noodle. The noodle is not spicy to me

Delicious and authentic Sichuan food! They have an impressive pickling setup, and the pickles were really good in the dishes we had. Sichuan water-boiled fish had a nice toasty chili oil flavor. The servers are nice and they gave us a complimentary chicken feet appetizer.

Sichuan cuisine food is really traditional here. We ordered the frog hotpot(fresh not frozen meat), cold spicy chicken and chongqing noodles, all are really good. We enjoyed and would come again!
