The Big Bean in Newmarket is such a fun spot. The atmosphere is lively without feeling chaotic, and the staff is attentive and friendly from start to finish.

The menu has great offerings with something for everyone, and the flavors really deliver—everything we tried was fresh and delicious.

It’s also in a really cute area, which makes it a great place to stop whether you’re grabbing coffee or meeting up with friends.

The Big Bean was the perfect spot for a mother–daughter breakfast date! Cute, cozy dining in downtown. We ordered the Cayman Bene with sweet potato hash and the Spock—both absolutely delicious. The balance of fresh veggies and perfectly melted cheese was spot on, and the hint of chipotle in the hollandaise is truly a dream match made in heaven. Soooo good!

Service was great, and while there was a bit of a wait, it didn’t bother us at all. They text you when your table is ready, which gave us time to explore the local gift shops nearby. We couldn’t resist sharing a pancake (highly recommend!), and before leaving we grabbed one of their ginormous muffins to bring home for the family.

Fantastic food, thoughtful service, and a fun overall experience. We’ll definitely be back! ☕️

I usually really like the big bean but my most recent order was a door dash of pancakes, they had remnants of veggies at the bottom stuck to both pancakes… hoping they do clean the grill.. I called to let them know about the veggies so the next customer doesn’t get the same surprise of old veggies and they didn’t offer a refund or seem to care. Just thought it was a little unclean to find veggies in a pancake

The extensive menu has a ton of things that sound delicious, and the location in downtown is quaint. The hash and the sauce that came on top of it were way too rich to finish, though, and I don’t recommend sitting outside if you expect a lot of motorcycles to drive by.

We had an awesome breakfast here. They were able to make alterations to our order when asked, very appreciative of this! Everything was fresh and flavorful. My family is still talking about how this may have been (it was!) the best breakfast we have ever had in a restaurant!!

One of the absolute best breakfasts spots around. Food is consistently amazing. Great service. Often on a wait, but WELL worth it. Add yourself to the list & pop over to Good Juju or walk down to the boat launch and say hi to the town ducks while you’re waiting. My personal favorites are the Down East French Toast – stuffed with maple walnut cream cheese and topped with my choice of fruit usually raspberries & the Dwight (insanely good) & lately the Green Chili Burrito – blueberry pancakes the perfect add on & the muffins!- grilled with butter of course. Homemade cinnamon swirl toast! Smoothies! Don’t worry – you really cannot go wrong with any choice here.

The food is amazing
The service sucks.
Stopped by with six friends today and pulled two of the four outside tables together, even though there were Yellow Jackets flying around. The waitress took our drink orders, dropped the drinks, and took our food order. The yellow jackets at our table were becoming unreasonable so we decided to move to the other two tables outside, pulling them together.
The waitress came out and made a big show of how annoyed she was as she separated the two tables we were previously at. ” like if you want a nice tip act like you’re happy to do your job”. Not sure what her problem was but we all noticed it.
Eventually she came outside and told us that the manager said we couldn’t push the tables together. And I told her to have the manager come tell us that.
The dude came out and tried to explain to us that it was the owner’s policy not to push tables together. Funny how that wasn’t a problem earlier when she took our drink order) He explained because of other people who might want to use the tables which didn’t make any sense if we separated them we would still be taking up two tables.
Now at this point one of my friends became very agitated and I’m not pleased to report he was rather rude. He said ” this is bullshit send the owner out to tell us”. We were informed the own was was not on the site. So therefore why should we separate the tables? The manager said that there are cameras and the owner is watching.
Eventually we just pulled the tables apart a few inches and my rude friend told the manager to “go inside, and leave us alone” which he did.
Our food came and the waitress was very Curt and again made us feel like it was a chore to do her job, like; “sure you’d rather be home smoking bong hits but you need to pay the rent, not my fault.”
The manager came out later and apologized, offered to give us the owner’s phone number which we declined.
My rude friend left the waitress an extremely large tip, which I was not in favor of.

I want to stress again that the food here is amazing but every time I’ve been which is more than a few times the service is really quite crappy.

Best breakfast around! So worth the wait. Very tight quarters and very busy, but just so good! They should really think about expanding/opening another location. We got the Big Bean Breakfast and “The Brooke” eggs Benedict.
