Hands down, one of the best sushi omakase experience I’ve ever had. The tuna (3 types of cuts) and the barracuda were my personal favorite. I also cannot forget the egg custard course. Such a warm and happy dish. Their sake pairing is excellent (shout-out to David for taking care of the pairing and accomodating some of my requests).
The experience was unforgettable, the chef and rest of the staff was a delight to chat with in between courses and everyone seemed very passionate about their craft and service.

I love the understated, anonymous nature of this spot. With no flashy signage, it feels like a secret handshake for sushi lovers—an unassuming entrance that leads to a world-class experience.
The avant-garde menu is unmatched, featuring elite-level ingredients and service that is fine-tuned to perfection. An absolute must for those who value quality over noise.

It’s like you sleepwalked into a plane to Tokyo and woke up right in there. Phenomenal to have this in Montreal. I was lucky enough to do a few edomae right in Tokyo and in NYC and this is absolutely on par with what I experienced. The produce is all seasonal and the care by the chef and staff is outstanding.
Cannot recommend enough if you want to have a luxury sushi experience.

Easily the best sushi spot in Montreal. Staff are nice and attentive. Very peaceful and relaxing experience. It was a pleasure to watch the chef work.
Love that ingredients were sourced from Japan and locally around Quebec and Canada.

This is a top-tier edomae dining experience in Montréal. The intimate atmosphere, the comfortable pace of the meal, the warm wood tones and jazz in the background. Each bite was wonderful. If you want to celebrate a special occasion or are just a sushi lover, this is a great place to do it. The chef is clearly very passionate about his work and takes time to explain each question in detail with enthusiasm. I can’t recommend this place enough.

Sushi Nishinokaze is THE up and coming sushi omakase in Montreal. As an omakase experience it is much less showy than Okeya, and the quality of fish and service isn’t lacking, and in my humble opinion it is a superior value ratio.
The omakase menu progressed gracefully with a jazz backdrop through different pieces of sushi, from harder/thougher textures through softer textures. The sake pairing matches well from floral to more savory.
The fish is impeccably prepared, perfectly aged, and savory, each piece has its place in the lineup, highlighting the best of Japanese and Canadian seasonality.
The rice is well seasoned and cooked, you can feel each individual grain of rice, and they aren’t mushed together.
The wine list is short but impressive.
Overall I would say Sushi Nishinokaze takes the top sushi restaurant in Montreal both in terms of service and sushi and I look forward to visiting again.

Nothing short of world-class, delivering an experience on par with (if not better than) legendary spots like Shion in NYC and Shoushin in Toronto.
Julian and Vincent’s passion for craft is evident in every bite—from the meticulous sourcing of the finest ingredients to their masterful execution. Each course is a showcase of precision, balance, and depth of flavor (Can you say UMAMI?!?!), making for an unforgettable dining experience. The attention to detail and reverence for tradition are second to none.
This is the kind of place that keeps calling you back, and I’ll be returning very, very often. What an experience, thank you for bringing your talents to this city.

Incredible experience and totally worth it. Every piece of tableware is carefully curated as is the art displayed. The food was honestly fantastic and it was a pleasure to witness the chef precise movements and mastery. Notably the tuna and Matane shrimps were really exceptional. The atmosphere is really calm and the noise level kept to a minimum which I really appreciated. I said jokingly to my husband that it’s actually like going to the spa but you can actually eat and drink.
Service is efficient and discreet. It is worth noting that this is also a no tip establishment which is definitely very Japanese. On a personal note, I appreciated the Toto toilets, this is always a plus. We also has a little chat with the chef at the end of the meal, he is very friendly and we did exchange a few words about pottery, art, his life and upcoming Japan trip. A delicious evening,
we will definitely be back.
