Mexican cuisine, culture, history, and flavor. I ordered a carne asada taco with cilantro and onions and it costed $3.75, as well as nachos that comes with al pastor roasted pork with pineapple, beans, lettuce, cheese, sour cream, and tomato, it costed $12.95. The tortilla had a soft texture that paired with the carne asada, while the chicken was tender and full of flavor. The onions added a nice kick, and the cilantro tasted fresh. The nachos were made with a mix of different ingredients that looked very appealing together. The al pastor chicken was slightly spicy and well done, while the pineapple added a sweetness that balanced the flavors. The tortilla chips were crispy, crunchy, and had just the right amount of salt to complement the rest of the dish. Learning about carne asada helped me understand how Mexican culture is shown through its food. Grilling meat started in Northern Mexico where people used what they had. Over time, carne asada became popular beyond Mexico, showing how food can bring people together while keeping old traditions alive. Tacos al pastor originated in Mexico when Lebanese immigrants brought their shawarma cooking technique to the country and Mexicans later replaced the lamb with pork and added ingredients like pineapple. The pineapple was added to provide a sweet taste to contrast the savory meat. If you’re looking to learn more about Mexican cuisine trying carne asada tacos can be a great start as they are very popular and can found in many Latin American restaurants.

I tried El Pueblito for the first time and it was such a treat.I got tacos and horchata, and the horchata made a really good impression on me with sweet, creamy, and refreshing flavor. While eating, I also picked up something new: the difference between guajillo and ancho chiles.. While eating, I also learned something new: the difference between guajillo and ancho chiles. One brings more heat, the other more smoky sweetness, and both are used to build complex sauces like mole. Beyond being delicious, the shop is also a little cultural hub, with groceries, spices, and sweets that keep Mexican traditions alive here in the city.

You will never catch me here again. I can’t believe this was $20 with of food for a take out order. Pure disrespectful.

I was told to check out el pueblito because they are the best tacos around.

I will give them like a 3.5 overall.

The restaurant is in a very small grocery store. So, if you have a lot of people this is not the spot for you to dine in. It’s extremely small as you can see from the video.

Taco selection was pretty good. They offer a lot of authentic Mexican options. Personally, I thought the tacos were okay. I’ve had Mexican food out west and all over, and nothing really compares. For someone who’s never been out west though, this spot would blow their mind.

The service was really good. The waitress was super sweet and she was attentive. Be aware that you have to order in Spanish though. So make sure you brush up before you come.

Over all, would I come again? Maybe. But, I would recommend it to other people for sure

We ate here Sunday night (11/9/25).
If you’ve never been it may be a surprise to know (spoiler alert!) that it’s a tiny restaurant at the back of a small Mexican grocery store. It’s not made to look fancy, they make the food to taste delicious. And it does. We ordered tongue tacos (don’t knock em til you’ve tried em), cow cheek tacos (see note about the tongue tacos), a pork skin quesadilla, a steak burrito and seafood soup. All of it authentic and all of it excellent. The seafood soup was perfect for a drizzly day.
It took a few minutes for the server to come to our table with menus, we must have slipped in while she was in the back. But once she took our orders everything went smoothly.
Recommend their Agua de Jamaica. It’s pretty much hibiscus koolaid. Sweet and tangy.
My test for authentic mexican restaurants is if their salsa is spicy and if they carry tongue on the menu. Both is true. Both are fantastic.

Note – the pictures don’t look as good! It tasted better than the pictures!

Great food! It’s part grocery store and part restaurant! We got some take out and had a good experience. The tacos were delicious and authentic, and the sandwich was good. Only recommendation is that the it might be better if the sandwich bread was toasted, but other than that, we enjoyed it and would go back!

Always fantastic! Mexican Latino food restaurant w excellent quick service and amazing value. Small space that can be crowded at peak hours, but most off-peak will always have a seat available. Also attached is a supermarket with excellent must and unique things.

The restaurant is tiny and nestled into their bodega, but it’s otherwise perfect. You really get your money’s worth when it comes to the food- very large portions of very delicious Mexican food. The staff is very patient; they took good care of my husband and I even though it was very busy, and I saw them take their time with some elderly patrons and some customers who struggled with a language barrier. I would eat here again and again if I lived in Lancaster.

I love this place! The food is great.. So tasty! Also, I can always find the ingredients I need. I’d say so far one of the most authentic restaurants I’ve been to in Lancaster. It’s not very big so I always order to go.

First time. Good service. We all felt the food was a little bean and lacked a little flavor but definitely not terrible. Might try again. Service is good and they came pretty quick. Dining area is extremely small. They do have a little store attached to it which was great just sucked a lot of their items don’t have price tags but other than that it was good.
