An instant favorite. Love the creativity. So nice to get something different and fresh. I’ve been eating on my chickpea sandwich for days and it’s still amazeballs.

My husband and I got the Tuscan and the Chicken Caesar and they were GOOD. Massive sandwiches, fresh ingredients and really good bread. The onion jam on the Tuscan was a highlight because it balanced the rich flavors, and the crispy cheese on the Caesar added a delicious, unique texture. Chicken was crispy but juicy tender. 5/5, 10/10 will definitely be back to try their other sandwiches! (Heads up, the Tuscan is pretty messy so get your bib out). They don’t offer cookies to go with the sandwiches but they had banana pudding and that was great too. Chips are a small up-charge.

Small place but man are the sandwiches awesome! I haven’t been able to stop thinking about the sandwiches since my first time there (& going again tonight). The sandwiches are HUGE!

Expensive? I don’t know, All food is expensive these days but a sandwich here is about $1 or $2 more than Pot Belly’s largest sandwich, and these are waaay better and a lot bigger.

My husband & I had the Chicken Caesar and the Fig & Pig. Both were DELICIOUS.

One recommendation I’d make is to offer the Fig & Pig warm/toasted.
I toasted it later on at home and it really made the sandwich a lot better – it was great to begin with, but toasting it took it to the next level.

I tried the fried chokes sandwich and it is one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever tasted! The bread, sun dried tomato paste, and garlic aioli are all freshly made in house and it shows, the flavors are all perfectly balanced and the portion size is GENEROUS — I’ll probably split it into two meals! The service is great and the staff are lovely 🙂 but wow I can’t get over how good this sandwich is and I don’t even usually like artichokes!

We did the Tuscan chicken and Italian. The Tuscan chicken had a really savory sauce on it that tasted almost like rose or vodka sauce. It was incredibly messy but had a nice flavor.

Great spot with huge servings. Loved the caesar dressing, which was intensely garlicy. The chicken was very crispy. My only comment is I think the bread is a bit dense for this purpose. It’s also not really a baguette as it is soft throughout and dense. I think something lighter like a soft sesame roll would better allow the rest of the ingredients to shine.

A sandwich shop that has endless options and you get SO MUCH! I ordered the “small” fried artichoke sammie and it was 100/10! From the freshly made bread to all of the fixings inside, it was so delicious. Also got a side of banana pudding. Highly HIGHLY recommend this locally owned shop!

I consider myself a sandwich connoisseur and Richmond has no shortage of good sandwiches. I have tried almost every sandwich in the city and have an ongoing internal list of the top contenders. I ended up sharing my chicken caesar sandwich, which was not only enough for 2, but also incredible. I gasped when I opened the box and knew from the first bite it was the best sandwich in the city. Every component was well thought out and almost perfectly executed. If I had any critiques it would be that the chicken itself was fried a little too hard and the Parmesan cheese layer was on the thicker side, which led to a chewier sandwich overall. Even with its minor imperfections I would give this sandwich a 10/10.

Chimbo Sandwich Shoppe is bright, clean and sunny, with a kind staff, that remembers your name. But, atmosphere aside, the sandwiches are amazing and just what the neighborhood needs to round it out. These are not your average deli sandwiches, but instead, unique offerings of amazing meats, vegetarian and vegan offerings. I first had the Philadelphian, a hot sandwich with house made roasted pork loin, homemade bread, cheese and amazing sauce. It was fabulous. I split the half size with my husband and there was plenty for both. I then went back and got the fried artichoke. Perfection of light frying with no greasy taste at all and again a yummy sauce and homemade bread.

Some may be initially surprised by the pricing, but the half sandwich was plenty for two. I believe even the halves are meant to be shared. For those less adventurous, or wanting a more traditionally priced offering, they have your typical deli meats too to craft your own.

Next for me, the Tuscan. Can’t wait!

Will be back! Ordered the Tuscan and the Fig & Pig— our favorite of the two was the Tuscan! The Fig & Pig was more refreshing, but the sun dried tomatoes really made the Tuscan stand out. Recommend calling to order ahead as there is limited seating/space inside.
