Such a cool freaking combination!! No joke, my actual heritage is Japanese and Latina, but Mexican mixed in with Spanish, native: Apache, and Blackfoot blood. I have so many issues trying to eat my cultural food since I’m allergic to MSG/monosodium glutamate! I was surprised to find out I could eat the food here!!
I didn’t want to get too full, so my boyfriend and I split the two taco plate and goodness it was so delicious!! we got the cauliflower El Pastor and chicken adobo tacos. We got Boba downstairs so look for my review on that spot, and our plate was literally 17 bucks with tax! I could not believe the deal!!
Service was incredibly quick even though the lady had to go check the menu items to make sure there was no MSG in the contents of either of those two tacos. Ambience is very cool and kickback.
Literally a bar that wraps around and very comfortable. I wish we had a round of drinks or cocktails because they’re Agua Fresca looked delicious!! The family next to us ended up getting cocktails and tacos also and I really wish we drink our Boba faster and could’ve had a cocktail also! Hee
I will definitely be back to the Chelsea stores, and I hope this place is still around!!

The Japanese curry beef taco is the best taco I have ever tasted. It was so good I came back on another trip. The shredded beef combined with the warm and savory curry harmonized with the interesting taco shell, which was made of gyoza. The location is also great although it’s a bit pricey for something that can be eaten in 3 bites. I don’t know why the reviews are so low. I think it’s because of the service. Thinking back, the staff didn’t really seem passionate but it don’t bother me that much. I’d give the food a 10/10 and overall experience a 9/10.

This place is pretty tasty and offers a unique blend of Japanese and Mexican fare. I’d recommend the Japanese Curry Beef as a protein, which pairs well with nachos or tacos. The service is ridiculously fast—they present uber-fresh food in minutes, if not seconds. Relaxing, comfortable environment too, away from the hectic Chelsea market. Would recommend stopping in.

Exceptional tacos, had the cole slaw, lentil taco, cauliflower taco bento box and saki. Outstanding flavors. Presentation is good, service is average, atmosphere is friendly, casual, inviting. Should not be missed.

09.26.25- found another great spot inside Chelsea market. It was a Mexican/Japanese, what a combo! The service and decor was spot on! We ordered (2) Ahi tuna tostada, carnitas taco, benito bowl with spicy tuna and japanese curry beef, sake sangria, boozy mangonada, jalapeño margarita.
Every bite and sip was deliciousssssss! I have never had a combination like this before. Thankfully we got there before it got packed but people waited until others were done so they can be seated. I recommend this! Thank you guys, see you soon!

Great fusion between Mexican and Japanese food. Lots of flavors, good selection and great service. Seating can be tight. Really enjoyed everything we tried

opted for the bento box ($13.78) with the two premium taco options of the spicty tuna and the braised shortrib, with a side of charred corn salad for a total cost of $15 + tip. the tacos were okay, the shortrib was a little dry and the tuna wasnt very flavourful. The “charred” corn salsa was also quite disappointing, looked like canned/frozen corn without any charring so ended up being quite plain. not the worst food but definitely also not the best you can find in chelsea market, $15 + tip feels very pricey for what this was.

Good experience. Service was really nice and efficient and attentive. food food came quickly – which is important.
Hard to talk about climat – you are sitting at the bar, so you grab your food and eat quickly – there are others waiting.
1 star less becouse i found beef in the dish that was impossible to chew, which shouldnt have happened.
I like american mexico food (in burrito couldnt trace the japanise part ) so in generally i was satisfied and come again if visiting States.

Had an amazing experience at Takumi Taco in Chelsea Market! The rice bowl was fresh and flavorful, and the guacamole sauce took it to the next level absolutely on point. Service was outstanding and impressively fast, which made the whole visit even better. A great spot for bold fusion flavors and quick, quality food. Highly recommend!
