Purple Mint Vegan Restaurant did not disappoint. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. I had the lemongrass beef with white rice, and it was incredibly tasty—perfectly seasoned, savory, and very satisfying. My wife ordered the pho soup with extra veggies, and it was so yummy, comforting, and packed with fresh flavors.

CJ was our server and did an amazing job. He recommended both dishes we ordered, and his suggestions were completely on point. He was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal.

If you’re looking for flavorful vegan food that doesn’t feel like you’re missing anything, Purple Mint is definitely worth checking out. We’ll absolutely be coming back.

I’m not vegan nor vegetarian, but you would never guess you’re not eating vegan meats based off of how delicious the food truly is! Each dish I’ve had here is so flavorful, it left me craving it for another time!! And the portions are pretty big, I’ve never finished one on my own. As far as the service it’s always top notch. Even when the restaurant is a bit busier, the food comes out pretty fast and as expected! And with that I’ve been a loyal customer since 2015, even before their relocation! Also huge shoutout to Sun & CJ for serving my family, friends, and I for all these years!! Always a pleasure to see them working when I dine-in or call in for takeout!! Also thank you guys for maintaining the same quality of food and service after all these years!!

We love love love The Purple Mint Vegan Bistro! We have been repeat customers for quite awhile now and have never been disappointed with the food or service. The ambience is cool, calm, and collected, pleasant music playlist, and the decor has a wonderful Bali jungle type vibe. The menu has plentiful options, there are plant based meats, we ordered: Shrimp Spring Rolls, Crispy Rolls and Grilled Beef, and Lemongrass Beef Vermicelli.. all delicious choices.. and the Thai Iced Tea is bomb! The food is hot, fresh, and seasoned nicely, and the servers are friendly and attentive. (Some of the dishes and sauces contain peanuts so be very cautious for those with peanut allergies). Please support this beautiful vegan eatery whenever you can!

Bun Hue was maybe the best we’ve ever had- absolutely phenomenal and as someone who doesn’t like veggie beef the (I’m guessing house made) beef was amazing. Chili oil is amazing too, so much flavor and depth. Thai tea is also massive and the vegan milk they use is perfect, creamy but not too creamy. We highly recommend this place and absolutely plan to come back. Prices are incredibly fair too, an appetizer, 2 entrees and 2 drinks came out to just over $50 before tip!

A MUST-eat in San Diego!!
I’m never afraid to write a critical review, but I have no ounce of criticism for this restaurant!
In my Vietnamese family, my cousin is vegan and I am vegetarian. We managed to convince our family of 8 to give this place a try, worried that any negative experience would dissuade them from trying meatless food again. Everyone LOVED the food. Expansive menu with SO many options. Flavorful, properly cooked vegan beef, chicken, fish, duck, shrimp, tofu (yes, we tried them all, via passing the dishes around the table!). I’ll never forget the delightful shock on my grandmother’s face when she tasted and saw how authentic the fake “sizzling beef” was. 11/10 will be back again, and will recommend to friends in the area- to both meat and plant-based diners 😀
Service was exemplary- our waiters constantly checked on our water levels and satisfaction.
Menu clearly labelled and organized – only suggestion would be for the restaurant to come up with a “family” meal consisting of all the different proteins with a group bowl of rice, so everyone can try different things!
Venue is recently renovated- so very clean and modern.
Plenty of parking nearby, on the residential streets and plaza parking lots.
All the other diners around us seemed excited and happy with their food- we all kept turning our heads nosily as each dish came out from the kitchen.

The menu is diverse and very yummy. Highlights were the fried tofu, mapo tofu lettuce cups and jasmine milk tea. They have done a phenomenal job with the ambience and the food. The only downside is the surrounding location. Will definitely revisit when we are in the area.

I am not a vegan but our friend is. We are very familiar with Asian cuisine from Vietnam and Thailand. The aubergine was the best dish. While most dishes from this area are vegan until protein is added there wasn’t a lot of flavor in the dishes. You can have bland spiceness but it shouldn’t be bland taste. Service was really good. I really hope they do improve as the could be really good. Protein should be offered separately for each dish IMHO

We ate her twice a day, everyday, during our week long visit. Hands down the best vegan restaurant in SD (best restaurant period, vegan or no). Food is super complex, fresh, light, and packed with flavour. The service is unmatched – people like CJ create a warm and welcoming environment. Drinks like passion fruit lemonade are very flavorful and the food is very affordable, with large portions.

We recommend: the tofu banh mi, the won ton soup, the hot and sour soup, sweet potato curry, and the duck lettuce wraps. They switched locations because their old building turned into apartments so please continue supporting this small business so it can remain a SD institution!

This all vegan restaurant has such delicious food. I appreciated the clearly labeled gluten free options on the menu. It means you will need to opt for tofu instead of one of the fancy faux meats but the way they flavor their food, there is nothing to be missed. I’ve been here on 2 separate occasions, both for lunch, and would recommend.
The restaurant has a nice, spacious appearance, suitable for different sized parties. Bathrooms are in need of some fixing up.
Back to the food… definitely splurge on the beverages. The iced jasmine milk tea and Thai tea are delicious! It’s hard to find dairy free Thai tea and these have the perfect flavor! I tried a chrysanthemum tea as well which tasted like a light floral water with pieces of sweet vegan jelly (lychee maybe?) inside.
I’ve tried the lemongrass tofu,
