We sat outdoor and enjoyed the Oysters on the Half-shell.

The service was great and the outdoor. Street-side picnic table was clean. We ordered beer for the Water-Craft Micro-brewery next door. Great partnering of a couple of small businesses to allow visitors try it all.

Apalachicola is my new go-to when I truly want to get away from the city-life! The Gibson Inn is where we stayed and it too was amazing, from price-point to accommodation expectations. Their Franklin Cafe and Parlor Lounge also exceeded our expectations during our visit.

Hats off to the businesses of Historic Apalachicola!

We visited upon recommendations by locals and were not disappointed. We had a group of 12 descend in this small business in a Sunday at lunch. I saw maybe 4 total staff including the owner. From hamburgers to fried clans to grouper to crab cakes, no one was disappointed! The crab cakes were my choice, and oh my! They are hand patted and perfectly fried with a nice crispy crunch. The hushpuppies were amazing with a hint of the soda and a little sweetness. This place may be called Hole in the Wall, but the name hides the wonderful delights to await. It’s on the return list!

My family and I enjoyed Hole in The Wall Seafood so much that we ate there twice in 3 days! We were staying over on Saint George Island and made the short scenic drive over. I had oysters Rockefeller and they blew me away. Apalachicola has the best oysters in Florida, that’s no secret but Hole in the Wall – the secret is out. Love the vintage decor, building and the service and food are amazing. Do yourself a favor and dine at Hole in Wall Seafood and come ready to satisfied.

Very unassuming place. However, the food is 5 star. The staff is 5 star. The place is 5 star. If you’re looking for fine dining and the accoutrements this is not your place. If you want fresh seafood and great people then this is your place. Love the people and their staff.

Husband and I had a nice late lunch here. We shared 2 fried combo baskets clams, shrimp and grouper, oysters, a couple of good real ice teas. $60. Food was good, decent portion size. Service was excellent young man that took care of us was right on it. We didn’t get his name, but he did a great job. Did not love the inside environment. It’s more sports bar, just had a bunch of large tables. There were only two of us and they said we could sit at the bar, which was not what we wanted to do so we chose to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air, but that’s just a picnic table.

Seafood was fresh but they clearly cook everything in seed oils. I was told they have no real butter. Luckily they could grill grouper which was very good.

Welcome to Oysterland. This place would feel right at home on Magazine Street in New Orleans. I loved the oyster stew and the Rockefeller. Unless you like the pickled jalapeno flavor, I would pass on the jalapeno cheese. Other stuff we saw coming out to tables looked good; they are buying wild oysters caught from the estuaries off the coast of Texas as opposed to farmed oysters from Virginia that most of the local places are using; the moratorium on Apalachicola estuaries remains in effect until at least 2026.

Visit 2:

Hole in the Wall Seafood in Apalachicola. The BEST oysters in the entire town, wild caught by Barber Seafood. Got the Rockefeller, big and juicy, and a big ‘ol bowl of seafood gumbo with excellent hush puppies. Couldn’t ask for more.

First time eating here and I gotta say that I was impressed.
The atmosphere was just right to make you feel relaxed.
The oysters were huge and some of the best I have had. The peel and eat shrimp were amazing.
I would definitely recommend this place for great food and amazing atmosphere.

Small unpretentious restaurant, appears that oysters were the most popular dish. Service was good. Food was a mixed bag. My wife had peel and eat shrimp which she said was quite good. I had grilled grouper which was a disappointment. The seasoning was very heavy and overpowered the fish flavor instead of complementing it. This is the only time I can remember not taking home fish that I was too full to eat. We were seated at the bar, sauces/catsup were lined up and flies kept landing on the open nozzles. I tried to keep them off but the flies were very persistent even flying into and fortunately out of my drink.

We stopped in for beers and oysters after a long day of house hunting. We tried a lot of the different oysters they offered. I enjoyed them all. The server was a little grumpy, though. But according to the regulars, that is the norm. Oysters were good, and beer was cold! Keylime pie was a great finish. I was happy.
