We ordered Jyoti’s butter chicken on DoorDash no more than an hour ago. Half way through eating the order my husband chews a bit on what he thinks is rubbery chicken to find out it’s a curled bandage.
We call the restaurant and am first told there is no manager present this evening, then am moved around from person to a final person that claims no one on their team has a band aid or cuts in their hand.
So it’s either old food from back when someone did have a cut, or they are lying.
Either way this is entirely unacceptable, and disgusting.
Though he agrees to approve a refund through DoorDash, but so far thats still pending.
I am immune compromised.. so we are just hoping this isn’t something that gets me sick as well.
We will not be returning, and don’t recommend to anyone else. Bad and unsafe food, and poor customer service.
(The bandage has been soaked in the sauce and it so hard to even tell, you can see the strands from the first picture)
It is a bit difficult to get to because it is in Adams Morgan but believe me it is worth the trek. For a date, I highly recommend this place as a date location with someone you are already comfortable with because you may be sweating a bit with some dishes.
And specially her way of talking was very polite, calm, and friendly. She explained the menu patiently, which made us more interested and confident in ordering the food. She checked on us with a smile and made us feel comfortable throughout the visit.
What’s even more shocking is the ridiculously high pricing compared to the tiny portions they serve. It genuinely feels like they are cheating customers with inflated prices and low-quality food.
Save your money and time. There are far better places out there that actually care about their food and service. I’ll definitely never be coming back here, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
I order chai , naan and elephant dish. I have no idea what took so long to make one dish for one customer. The chai was the very tasty and delicious. The elephant dish was was very small and over priced for the amount I paid. Naan was not fresh. Not sure what the waitress was doing but it took her so long to come and give my check. I came for 30 mins lunch break which took so long. I’ve had better Indian food in DMV area. Not super happy.
Our server Madeen was amicable & super helpful in explaining the items on the menu. We started off with the vegetable platter appetizer and included a trio of sauces; tamarind, mango chutney, green chutney. My personal favorite was the mango chutney, with a sweet, pungent spicy kick to it however all of them are rich in flavor. The drinks were great as well, would recommend getting the Alabama Slammer & Mai Tai.
As our main course we ordered one of the most popular dishes recommended, the Tandoor Red Snapper along with the Lamb Seekh Kabob and Chicken Biriyani & choose mild as our preferred spice. We also had a side order of a yogurt sauce called Cucumber Raita & Garlic Naan. Not only was the presentation spotless, I kid you not every bite of those dishes did not disappoint. From the creaminess of the sauce served in the lamb, fish was grilled to perfection, & chicken biriyani was also tasty because the rice was blended with these aromatic spices that I am still trying to figure out! Flavors so complex yet it enriches your palette. The Garlic Naan came out fresh and hot, & just paired so well with the refreshing Cucumber Raita.
I had the pleasure of meeting with the owner Shiva & I love how hands on he is within the restaurant & his employees. It truly was a lovely experience & definitely would come back to try out their vegetarian options!
