The custard itself tasted great, though it was a bit soupy—possibly due to the high temperature. It wasn’t as solid as we expected, but the flavor still shone through. Despite that, it was an amazing treat and definitely worth a visit.
Freshly made, flavorful, and full of character—Sheridan’s is a solid pick for anyone craving a cool dessert in late evening. This would be my last dessert before leaving Topeka. I will be back!
They even have free pup cups for your dog. Just make sure your dog doesn’t eat it to fast!
The tilapia was a very generous portion of fish, battered crispy and fried hot, juicy, and with a flaky delicious texture. It’s topped with a homemade slaw and sandwiches between toasted buttery buns. This isn’t your normal fast food fish sandwich. The owner was very proud of this sandwich, as she should be.
The truffle fries were good, but weren’t the best I’ve had. They are a nice change in pace from regular fries, for sure. Truffle flavor is subtle, but there. They’re lightly seasoned, and I think most people will enjoy them. I personally prefer more salt, but my tastes are saltier than most. So take my opinion… With a grain of salt. The Burger Stand in Lawrence is where I’ve enjoyed truffle fries the most. We have one in Topeka, which comes pretty close.
The grasshopper concrete was so good! The ice cream was the perfect temperature for enjoying right away. There’s the right amount of mint flavor, the crisp Oreo cookies, and bits of chocolate that makes this an easy dessert to enjoy.
We were very impressed at this place. The owner and staff were very polite and attentive. We are very glad to have stopped in and will be back to try their other offerings!
Update:
Came again on a Saturday and Sunday, a month later. We had the steak burger with truffle fries. I think a tall young made our food, and I must say, the truffle fries that day were well seasoned (to my liking) and the truffle flavor was much bolder! Every single fry was blissful. My son said that they “were soo good”! The steak burger had the most “steak” taste I’ve ever had in a burger. We were very fond of the pretzel caramel concrete.
The following day, we had the chicken sandwich with truffle fries. The generous piece of white meat chicken was unbelievable juicy. My son really enjoyed this one. The truffle fries on this day was a larger portion, but lacking. There was tons of parsley flakes on it, which made it look very appetizing. However, they went light on both the salt and the truffle oil. Some fries had the flavor (although very subtle), and some had none. I wonder if it was drizzled on instead of tossed in the truffle oil. Still not bad, but just wasn’t great. Might be a hit/miss kind of situation on the truffle fries. But everything else foodwise was spot on! For dessert, he wasn’t a fan of this time (Brett’s butter pecan concrete)
