Quite frankly & straight to the point, for years I only went to another local Knoxville sushi spot that had half price sushi nights. Then my husband introduced me to Tangerine & it’s the only place I happily go to & pay full price. The employees are the nicest ever! The food is great! The hot dishes are always piping hot & the sushi is great! We go at least once a month, if not more often. Presentation is always on point.

Some of the best sushi I have ever had! I got the tempura shrimp roll, and it was super crunchy, flavorful, and filling. The plate setting was beautiful, and our server took great care of us. I have been thinking about going back many days since.

We enjoyed the drinks and the agreed tofu appetizer. The service was great, but the sushi left allot to be desired. The rolls were loose and many cuts of the roll we’re too large to be one bite, or just inconsistent in general. The nigiri was completely off balance… The size of the cut of fish for every piece we ordered (2 PCs each of salmon & yellowtail) was enough for 3 servings of nigiri… It was just too large and too much. The fish was fresh, but the balance of the bites was off for us.

My first time. The food was really good but not for the price…I opened my carry out when I got home and this was the amount of meat after paying the extra exorbitant price for filet and scallops!!! Very disappointing for $30.00 on one hibachi entree. I had to dig to make sure what I was seeing was the lack of the meat.

Wow! What a hidden gem! We tried it on a whim. What a great choice! The food is very good! For sushi, the Kamakaze was recommended by the host. The ginger house dressing was a tasty surprise! Different but top notch! The steak and shrimp Hibachi was delicious! We loved the sauce! The tempura cheesecake was delightful! The portion was very generous. The staff were great! It was clean! Close to an exit on the 640. We are already planning to return.

This is the best sushi bar I have found in the greater knoxville area. Having lived in Japan and worked as a sushi chef in San Francisco it’s not hard to see that Ricky takes his craft seriously. The fish is fresh and isn’t adulterated with food coloring , the portions are generous and the presention is top notch. Most importantly, his rice (the cornerstone of sushi flavor and texture ) is fresh and seasoned properly. It’s not too dry, too sweet or overly vinegary but moist fluffy and balanced in flavor.

He offers a standard sushi menu. One that offers sashimi, nigiri and rolls you’re familiar with and can depend on. But, if you can appreciate authentic sushi then you want to be friends with this guy. You might get lucky and get a special dish that isn’t available on the standard menu.

Update** Ricky made me a special off-the-menu dish..I didnt ask for it, thats just how he rolls ( pun intended) with his regulars. It was like a miniature chirashi or poke bowl with extra attention to presentation..it tasted just like it looks, delicious

At first, the place looks a bit outdated, but you quickly feel like you are in a family-owned restaurant. Dad and son are busy preparing sushi behind the bar, while the daughter welcomes you with a sweet and warm smile.
The food is amazing! The quality is right there on your plate. I couldn’t resist going back for a second time during my 3-day trip to Knoxville just to experience the fantastic food again, and I was delighted once more!

Amazing! The restaurant was perfectly lit and clean. The bathroom was clean as well. The service was top-notch. Oksana was a wonderful server. The calamari was perfect! The sushi was fresh and had a great presentation. The eel roll was the best I’ve ever had. The iced tea was so good! The ratings are 100 % accurate! This restaurant is a gem! Do yourself a favor and indulge! You will not be disappointed!
