This place is incredibly lucky to have Ashley, Calvin, and Sierra behind the bar. I’m there multiple days a week, and they are the reason. They have a rare ability to make people feel seen and included from the moment they walk in. They remember names, conversations, and details. They read the room effortlessly and create an atmosphere where everyone feels like they belong. The prices are definitely on the higher side, but the experience they build every night keeps it a five-star spot for me.

My husband, my mom, and I went for breakfast on Saturday, February 7 at 10:30am. When we got there, there was one table with two people at it and then another table of four came in. There were people at the bar, but it wasn’t busy. It took a little bit for the waiter to take our order, but we waited almost an hour to get our food! When asked what was going on with our food, the waiter said the cook they had for 15 years was no longer there and they were training new people.

Today at 12:30pm, my mom was with a group of 11 ladies that went for lunch! She said it was not busy and they still waited quite a while for their food! The ones that got the chili cheese dog special got theirs fast, but most others waited for theirs. My mom was almost done with her meal (patty melt) before some of them even got theirs! The waiter brought out a basket of chips for those that didn’t get their food right away. Again, the excuse from the same waiter we had on Saturday was they are training new people because the cook of 10 years (Saturday it was 15 years!) was no longer there!

The food was good, but I really hesitate to go back.

I came in for breakfast with my friend yes! Ordered the blueberry pancake which was always great! It WAS TERRIBLE! I mentioned to the bartender that it was bad and she said they are trying to figure it out?????? I ate 1/4 of it!!!! It was so tough I had to cut a pancake with a knife!!!!!!!!!! My server , AJ went and mentioned it to the young lady and she still CHARGED ME FULL PRICE!!!!I was there with several regulars and that was terrible!!!!! Bye Cornerstone

For a local somewhat divey bar the prices are a little ridiculous for the quality and quantity. The bartenders were not rude but definitely inconsiderate to my wife. Calling me honey and sweety when i’m obviously with someone is pretty annoying and made us both uncomfortable. They also made sure to ask if i wanted another drink when i wasn’t even done with mine (which is great) but never once asked my wife who’s drink was bone dry for almost an hour if she wanted another. The only time she got another drink was when i ordered her one while in the bathroom. Again the food and drinks are fine but i’m not paying those prices for snack bar quality food and service again. Honestly super pissed because we’re new to the area and have been looking for a bar close to us and unfortunately this wasn’t it. (these cheese curds were $10.99. We didn’t eat any before taking the photo, like this is the actual serving)

The Cornerstone (formerly Monkeyshines) made one of the best Rubens I’ve ever had. Unfortunately the service was so bad that the quality of the sandwich couldn’t make up for it.
We got there just as the kitchen was transitioning from breakfast to lunch. The woman working at the bar invited us to sit at the bar and told us it would be twenty minutes in transition. So we got coffee and and waited.
And waited.
And waited.
Eventually a different server took an order from the party next to us while ours cleaned dishes.
About ten minutes later she told us she’d be right with us.
Then we watched her do more dishes, put dishes away, and hang out and chat with some folks at the bar that she seemed to know for another ten minutes or so.
I ordered the Reuben. My partner ordered the walnut burger.
No walnut burger.
She ordered a grilled cheese instead.
It took the kitchen nearly thirty minutes to produce both sandwiches.
The grilled cheese was nothing special, the Reuben was great. We both had coleslaw, which I liked but she thought was too sweet.
We finished our food and waited another fifteen minutes or so for the check before asking for it and settling up.
Good sandwich, but absolutely not worth the negligent service.

Newly renamed and the interior was redesigned. It’s not Monkeyshines anymore. Interior was well lit. Friday night was not too busy. My wife said The fish fry was greasy. I had a burger which was tasty. Not sure if I’ll go back.

Monkeyshines is a local bar that has been around forever. Typical local bar with pool tables, dart boards, and sand volleyball. Their menu is awesome. I’ve eaten lunch here several and have never been disappointed. Their dayly specials are always a lot of good food. Today, we got the meat loaf with Bacon onion gravy (want that recipe!) and jalepeno cheddar cornbread. It was delicious, and more than I could eat. My friends got the chili and the chicken stew, and they were both awesome. The other special looked amazing, smoked chicken mac-n-cheese quesadilla. Try this place!

The Monkeyshines Bar & Grill has new name and management.
Good food, just a few people but it’s a nice place to spend a few jours.

Overall, I would rate my dining experience as fine. It is a pretty generic looking bar on the inside with taste and a pool table; not too fancy, and generally pretty comfortable. It was clean, but nothing too special in terms of decorations. My food was good. I had a burger, and it was great. My major disappointment was paying the $2.50 to upgrade my chips to tater tots, but only receiving 17 tater tots. Who does that?! The person I was with got one of their Flatbread, and apparently it was pretty good.
Overall, it was a decent enough experience, but I can’t say I will go back too often.

I can’t overstate how good the food is here. Easily one of the best restaurants in 50 miles! I ordered the salmon cake special and the presentation, flavor, and texture were perfect. Please give this spot a try!
