The table seating near the bar is most comfortable and the service was friendly. Family seating in the regular dining area has the view outside. The chef came out to greet us & she was sweet, letting us know how the food was prepared. All lobster dishes are fried yet glistening with sauce. The menu mostly consists of prawns in various ways.

Anniversary dinner choice and it didn’t disappoint. We enjoyed the dinner for 2, including the unique fresh corn soup ( must try ) pot stickers, egg rolls / shrimp, general Tao’s Chicken. Everything was outstanding and plenty of leftovers to share for lunch today. Service was also great. I also have to recommend the lemon drop cocktail. The quality of fresh ingredients exceeded my expectations. Thank you!

I dont often write reviews unless the place is beyond exceptional. I have been coming here since I was a little kid I have seen a lot of changes to this place with staff menu items all of that. As I sit here tonight and enjoy the appetizers I have before dinner I notice the staff, I notice the room. This place is packed yet the servers are still moving around making sure everyone is tended too the appetizers came out piping hot fresh off the stove the soup fresh and hot to perfection. This place is, has always been and will always be the best Chinese food in northern California well done to the staff at this fine establishment.

Crew stopped in on a long sit and everybody told us we needed to try it. I was beyond amazed. Their lunch specials are so much food for a great price! Their egg drop soup was the best I’ve ever had!!

I think this may be the best Chinese food I have ever had!
I was flying in and sat down to order an Uber and happened to notice the sign by the elevator, and being a tiny airport in a tiny town, I was expecting a small Chinese joint, but I need to be careful not to underestimate Redding.

I walked in dragging my luggage, and almost turned around and left when I realized it was a fancy place, but it was empty enough since it just opened for dinner service I didn’t feel bad about taking a table.
I am glad I braved it!

It’s upstairs at the airport, with a view over the runway towards the forest and snowy Mt Lassen from big windows.
It’s got a nice mix of fancy diners and local colorful characters (you know who you are… 😉 ), so you will fit right in!

I wasn’t very hungry, so I just ordered some chow mein, and I am glad I didn’t order more, because it was a giant platter for the price, and now I will float well at the Hampton Inn pool tonight… Grin

I am ubering back to my helicopter hauler semi truck I left in town to go run a side quest, so I don’t want left overs this time, sadly….

I am sure I will be back, since I am sometimes in town for Bethel conferences, and I will bring friends with me.

So, JP helicopter folks, and Bethel folks, come check this place out! 😉

We had ordered take out from Peter Chu’s Skyroom inside the Redding Airport Terminal and liked the food.
On a nice Saturday evening we decided to dine in at Peter Chu’s. Experience the atmosphere and see other dishes passing by 😉
We arrived around 6PM. They were pretty busy with both diners and take out.
They told us approx. 15 min wait. We decided to go into the bar area and have a drink while waiting. John, the fine, comical and friendly bartender took our drinks order. We asked if we could sit at one of the tables in the bar area.
He said, sure I’ll bring menus.
We sat at a nice table and started to peruse the menu. In the mean time, a table of 4 young men were having a good time. A few minutes later, John rolled out a cart loaded with 2 big appetizer dishes. A PuPu platter complete with small grill complete with flames!!! The other app was a large boat filled with small tasty morsels. The gents seemed to enjoy it!
As my wife and I were trying to decide what to order, one of the young men (these guys were around 30) left the table and as he passed ours, I asked him how the appetizers were.
He told us definitely get the Pu Pu Platter.
Hmm, did look good. And, we like leftovers the next day (LOL)
My wife said she wanted the Sizzling Happy Family. Me, Im flexible.
I noticed that one of the Gourmet Dinners (for 2 in our case) had the Pu Pu platter, Sizzling Happy Family, a deep fried Garlic lobster dish, soup and rice.
Score!!!!
We ordered it and waited anxiously.
The Pu Pu platter arrived first. Wow, lots of tasty appetizers all in one spot. The Teriyaki beef grilling over a flame was sweet and rich. The Paper Wrapped Chicken (our first time) was moist and delicious. The egg rolls and Fried Prawns were also excellent. IMHO, the BBQ Pork was the star. Sweet, nice flavor from the spices and perfectly cooked.
The Fried Won Ton – well, avoid as we did. Too much good food to waste on them.
We didn’t finish it – far too much for 2 people – so John brought us our first of a few take out boxes.
Highly recommend it!!!
The next course arrived – House Special Won Ton Soup. John brought a single large bowl and then divided it into our own soup bowl.
I must say, Im usually underwhelmed by Won Ton soup – but this one had a mild chicken broth, lots of chicken and prawns and vegetables. Im sure the broth was homemade. It was much too rich in flavor with no overwhelming saltiness. It was simply spot on.
Whew, we were already a bit full with 2 more dishes to go…
John rolls out another cart with the classic red hot cast iron plate and proceeds to slowly pour the Happy Family onto it.
There was so much sizzling and steam – I couldn’t see John!!!
Placed the steaming and still sizzling plate in front of us along with a platter mounded with golden morsels of battered/deep fried lobster in a mellow lobster sauce.

The Sizzling Happy Family we delicious. Lots of meats – beef, tons of scallops, prawns. And, nice assortment of vegetables – water chestnuts, snow peas, broccoli etc. The sauce complemented the dish – never overpowering.
The Garlic Lobster was very good. Im not a big fan of battered and fried food, but every bite has some reasonable amount of lobster. Again, the garlic sauce was there – just not “in your face”.
Nicely done.

Needless to say, we skipped dessert and took home lots of leftovers. And, we were very full, but very happy.

Can’t wait to go back!

This place is amazing! I lived in Beijing years ago, and this place brings back that authentic taste. Heavy pores on the drinks too – they don’t mess around… overall, great place- especially for an airport.

Pretty Mind blowing that it was $28 for a combination without a drink even. The appetizers that came with it were good, I had eggshell in the soup & I was extremely disappointed & barely touched the combination & literally threw it in the trash after a few bites. I used to work at a great Chinese place & know very well what Mongolian beef should taste like & have ordered it multiple restaurants around this town & others & other states even. This tasted nothing like it what so-ever. It had zero flavor & had something like fiberous & chewy even like a spice of some sort I’m guessing but still had no flavor other than black pepper & the beef was chewy & very poor quality & they only gave the option of plain white rice not even fried rice which is mind blowing given the price. You would think that they would at least give you fresh rice but it had to have been at least a day or so old as dry as it was. I was massively dissapointed trying this place. I feel like I got ripped off for food that was not even edible other than the egg roll & plain fried wonton.
