Good food, great taste, authentic Indian

It was nice to walk in the city and stop at a restaurant where you can find great Indian food without going to a location that away from the prime city area. So my search was on the top and I found this place… very happy about the choice… would definitely like to repeat it.

I liked that most fear inside as well. You will see that in the pictures.

We had a lovely evening here. The restaurant owners are very welcoming and kind. We had ordered masala tea, amritsari kulcha, cheese naan, rajma masala set menu, palak paneer set menu, bhel puri and gulag jamun. Everything was delicious and satisfying. Portion sizes were good too.

The staff and owner at Delhi Darbar are extremely warm and welcoming. They’re the best place to go for snacks, our favorites being the papri chaat, aloo tiki chaat, and samosa chaat. They’re loaded up with the all the chutneys, dahi, and toppings you’d expect for a reasonable Switzerland price. The main entrees are also very yummy and come standard with rice and a naan. I only removed a point for food because I felt the naans could have been fresher. If they invest in a tandoor and make naans in-house then this would easily be the one of best Indian restaurants I’ve been to abroad.

I’m a HUGE fan of all Indian food from all regions…Best Indian food I’ve ever had and no this is not a paid review haha! We visited three Indian spots while in Interlaken(they’re literally on every corner) not expecting the find the best Indian we’ve ever had! A classy spot, great service by people who actually care and take pride in their food. So good we came twice during our short visit! Also you get salad, Naan, and rice with your curries!

Posting pictures of both nights for proof lol.

Authentic Indian restaurant with real Indian hospitality matched with excellent food and atmosphere.
We went there for a dinner and although they had ‘set menus’ they were very accomodative and made changes as we desired. The hostess is super efficient and understands Indians and their requirements like ‘onions and chilli ‘ perfectly. Very warm and welcoming people. I highly recommend this one.

Found this gem after scanning the area on foot and I’m glad I did.
Authentic Indian food, beautiful interior design, very courteous staff, and a friendly jolly owner couple.
It was my birthday on August 1, which is Swiss National Day and they generously gifted us a bottle of Italian wine.
They can play soft Indian Bollywood tracks too and also prepare ‘sabzi’ (dishes on special request with prior intimation. Cakes as well as we were told.)
This restuarant is a must visit on your trip to Interlaken. And it’s easily accessible on foot.

After much deliberation as to where to head for dinner, we finally decided to give Delhi Darbar Indian Restaurant a try, and we weren’t disappointed a bit.

First and foremost is an appreciation to the warmth and courtesy of the owner and the staff. They were friendly and accommodating of the various needs and demands.

Then the Food! The food was delicious to say the least. The set menu is enough to fill your stomach and your heart.
It was a sumptuous meal with papadam, fresh salad, pickles, chutney and the choice of bread along with the main dish and some rice with a pinch of warmth from the staff.

The Paneer Butter Masala had the right balance as far as the tomato base goes and it was creamy and the paneer (cheese) was tender and fresh. The Yellow Dal that we had was perfectly balanced with cumin tempering that added the oomph to it.
The breads were perfectly baked (butter nam and garlic nan).
The steamed rice with the added oomph of cloves was a definite hit.

I am just too excited to be even writing this review as it feels words won’t be able to justify the feeling.

A must visit.

Despite initially being drawn by positive Google reviews, our lunch experience at this establishment left us feeling disappointed.

The staff exhibited carelessness and unprofessionalism, making it difficult to recommend this place unless there are no other Indian restaurants available in the vicinity. While the atmosphere and location were pleasant, the actual dining experience fell short.

We ordered the Kadhai paneer, yellow dal, and dal makhni combo, along with lassi and masala Chaanch as our beverages. Initially, we were served one less rice plate with the explanation that rice was complimentary and would be provided later to prevent wastage. However, when we received our food, we found the portion size did not justify the price.

The dal lacked flavor and was unappetizing, while the Kadhai paneer tasted less than fresh. Naans are not fresh.
The service was notably subpar; during our meal, the waiter failed to check on us, and my wife had to approach the restaurant owner to request the rice plate.

The unprofessionalism continued when we received the bill. We discovered an erroneous charge for the rice plate. Upon bringing this to their attention, the restaurant owner shifted blame to the waiter, displaying a casual attitude. We assumed it was a simple mistake and proceeded to pay the bill.

However, our ordeal didn’t end there. After making the payment, we noticed an unauthorized charge of 50 euros on our card, exceeding the bill amount. When we confronted the owner, he nonchalantly canceled the previous bill and assured us the amount would be refunded, without any apologetic tone. He attributed this error to a customer who had inquired about a prayer room, further highlighting the establishment’s lackadaisical approach.

It appears that the restaurant owner may be relying on the location’s appeal rather than providing excellent service and quality food to customers, leaving us with an impression of arrogance overshadowing the overall experience.
