While shopping on Jamaica Avenue, I started to feel hungry and decided to stop by TERIYAKI R US. The food cost $12.99, and a Diet Coke was $3.29, with an extra charge of $1.69 for fried rice, bringing my total to $18. Although there were some changes, my main issue was that I wasn’t informed about the additional charges, and the price for the Coke seemed unusually high for New York at $3.29 plus tax. I was really hungry and had no other options, but I promised myself I wouldn’t return, and I would advise others to steer clear of this place due to its high prices.

I ordered salmon teriyaki with noodles that comes with vegetables. The mix bowl comes with chicken, beef and shrimp and i also ordered it with noodles. Usually all the dishes comes with rice. If you want it with noodles, you’ve to pay $1 extra. The restaurant is clean and the service is good. They have a variety of food, including fried dumplings, salmon, beef, shrimp, sushi, noodles, rolls, and the Bento box. They also have flavored juices.

I don’t recommend takeout, it’s not tasty… The salmon with white rice I ordered was hard, and the spring rolls and vegetables were rotten… Maybe it’s better to eat in.

This new Teriyaki spot is where the old Starbucks used to be. Prices are decent. They are making the food on the spot so takes a few minutes which is fine.
I got the Chicken Teriyaki combo (includes white rice and veggies) which is $10. They give you a nice amount of food. They offer to give you extra teriyaki too on top
I go back and try some of the other things on the menu. I think they taste better than PP Boy nearby.

Went today 8/18/23. All cooks and cashier were Hispanic strange for a Japanese restaurant anyway looks like the Japanese were making the sushi. I got the beef bento box the beef was great. I also got the green dragon rolls the avocado was not fresh at all. In regards to sushi this place does not come close to P P boys at all.

It’s a good spot, but it’s not enough for a 5 star because the competition around it is fairly better. As far as taste goes, I’d go to Sarku Japan a block from here. For affordability, there’s a vendor in the Jamaica Market where they have a lunch special for just $6. There’s also a hole in the wall spot called PP Boy that has a better selection of Sushi rolls.
Anyway I’ll get to why I rated this place a 4. The food is average, it’s not bad but it’s not good enough to stand out. Props to the ladies on service, they are on point and are very kind so I will always give good commendation on enthusiastic service. I got the Chicken bento which does come with teriyaki chicken & rice, steamed veggies, 2 spring rolls, 2 gyoza dumplings and 4 California rolls for $12.99 which is decent but would be perfect with a drink included. Chicken teriyaki w/ rice was pretty good, veggies were alright, spring rolls were good, dumplings were decent but I’d prefer them steamed than fried and the Cali rolls were alright. Could’ve came with a cup of soy sauce and Wasabi sauce which they didn’t have so that’s a miss on their part.
If this joint were the only spot of its kind within a 10 block radius, I’d come here more than once, but with Sarku Japan, PP Boy, 2 Asian fusion spots in Jamaica Market and Panda Express all within a sole block from one another, It’ll be awhile before this place sees me again. Too many options for them to stand out.

This Jamaica location is excellent, I’ve ordered from this place at least 10 or 12x and it’s 1000% consistent with the food the cleanliness and service. I work in Manhattan and before I go to work I stop in and always pick up a bowl or sometimes I sit in and enjoy. The food is ALWAYS delicious and satisfying the customer service is ALWAYS great. I highly recommend this place to anyone especially if you haven’t tried the food yet, I even bought a bowl for my manager and she loved it. I hope they open more locations

I’m not going to lie I really do like this place . BUT there was this one situation where I had gotten the daily special teriyaki chicken with the white rice and I found a black HAIR in my food , even pulled it out my mouth that’s DISGUSTING. Keep in mind my hair is blonde . I went there a week later to grab some dumplings and when I ordered I told the lady how I found hair in my food and if she can ask the cooks to be careful and she just looked at me like I was crazy . No apology, no acknowledgment of the situation. I didn’t expect free food nor accommodation. I just think that she should’ve just gave me at least on. I’m sorry or something. It’s just very unprofessional. And they will not be getting my money anymore.

This is not great teriyaki chicken . Do not be fooled by the pictures .
The flavors are bland and in need of more seasoning . Also the meat was not cooked thoroughly . I had this place at least 3x and I will no longer go back. Each time the food was not great .
