Picked up my mom from LA airport and she was craving Mexican food. I found Chulita in Venice and were so happy we found this place. The service was very attentive, the ambiance was beautiful inside, very boho Mexican style. Everyone around us was ordering the guacamole so we knew that was a staple at this restaurant. I definitely suggest also getting the salsa it was delicious. We also got the ceviche, which was great flavor, and chicken and fish tacos! We tried both the cassava and corn tortillas, you can taste the freshness. I love my entree. The arrachera really hit the spot. The hanger steak and carrot mole was perfect! And of course we finished with the churros dessert. We left there feeling very satisfied! Definitely recommend.

Lively Venice Beach indoor/outdoor restaurant.

Great service and the food came out quickly.

Tropical Margarita’s were perfect for the heat.

We shared a lot of different dishes, loved everything besides the Coliflor Fundido.

Definitely make reservations.

Chulita is truly something special. From the moment you walk in, the space feels warm, vibrant, and thoughtfully rooted in Oaxacan inspiration. The ambiance alone sets the tone: beautiful, soulful, and inviting.

The food was exceptional. Every dish carried depth, balance, and intention. Honoring tradition while feeling fresh and expressive. You can taste the care in every bite.

Beyond the incredible flavors, what stood out the most was the feeling of community and authenticity. Chulita isn’t just a place to eat, it’s an experience that celebrates culture, artistry, and connection.

I will absolutely be back!!

The food was fantastic and the restaurant was cute. The hostess who seated us stuck us in a back patio where there was no one but us. Couldn’t quite assess if this was a rascist move, because no one was seated there the entire time we were there. The server was great though.

Amazing service from Kim! Restaurant is very cute. Their cashew soup was delicious and Kim gave a great recommendations with the chilaquiles. There was a confusion with one of our dishes and Kim took care of us.

Just an FYI, the chulita bowl is more of a salad, and the avocado salsa is mixed inside. The menu description made us a bit confused… but overall, I would come back and try out other stuff. The barbacoa was very juicy and flavorful.

We had an amazing time at Chulita and were lucky to have the best Mexican server ever. I can’t remember his name, but he was incredibly kind and attentive, checking in on us even though he had multiple tables. We were celebrating our anniversary and it was our last night in LA on vacation, so he surprised us with churros on the house.

The food was absolutely amazing and I loved that there were so many good vegan options.

A mini escape to Tulum is best to describe the decor of this little cute restaurant in Venice. I been here many times. I took my mother here for brunch, they had wide variety of selection on the menu that caters to meat lovers and vegans. Food was great! My mom is a vegetarian and the food satisfied her Mexican cravings. John was our waiter and he took great care of us and I made sure to left him 25% tip for his hard work.

We celebrated Mother’s Day at Chulita on Rose Avenue in Venice, and it was such a great choice—especially for vegetarians. This place radiates relaxed Tulum-meets-California vibes, with natural textures like jute, airy decor, and that signature Venice energy.

The staff were warm, friendly, and incredibly patient. We had a few custom requests (like no tomatoes or onions for my daughter), and everything came out perfectly. The guacamole was super fresh, and the tacos were flavorful without being heavy. I ordered the cauliflower taco with a cassava tortilla, and it was seasoned beautifully—clean, filling, and so satisfying. They also offer blue corn tortillas, which were just as good.

My husband tried one of the brunch dishes and loved it, and my daughter enjoyed the vegan nachos. We also shared a spicy mezcal margarita—it was bold, well-balanced, and memorable. Mezcal is clearly their thing, and they do it well.

Despite being listed in the Michelin Guide and located in trendy Venice, the pricing felt fair and the portions generous. It’s casual, breezy, bright, and definitely on our list for a return visit.

Vegetarian options are plentiful here—this is a true gem for plant-based diners. Just plan a little extra time for parking (this is Venice, after all)—we got lucky with a spot right across the street.

We had great service and great seats. The restaurant is semi open air for the inside spots with outside seating that has shade as well.

Chulitas makes their own GF Cassava Flour tortillas that were soft, pliable and have the same chew and char as a fresh flour tortilla. They have organic blue corn tortillas as well as tostadas that are baked for “chips” with their house salsa.

They made me a virgin spicy margarita that was the right amount of tangy heat.

I ordered a Barbacoa taco on the cassava flour tortilla and a Fish taco on a cassava tortilla. They were nice sized and had tons of protein in each one. The barbacoa was unctuous and spicy with a nice crunch from the fresh veg and radish. The fish was firm, flaky, and perfectly cooled with a citrus slaw. I ordered a side of Spanish rice. It was creamy it all the right ways and subtly spiced.

The table ordered the two dessert options to share, GF Pumpkin Spiced Churros with a vegan caramel and a vegan chocolate mousse with almond crumble. Both had good texture. The mousse also had a raspberry coulis that was tart and balanced rhe creamy chocolate. The Churros were crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. The caramel was a little watery so we dipped out churros in the chocolate mousse.

Overall, EXCELLENT food and service

A lot of people think Venice Beach is grimy, but I like it. There are all these cute little restaurants that are a total vibe. This place feels like it’s all outdoors, which I love. It’s cozy and dimly lit. The staff are super cool, our server kept calling us “family” which I kinda loved. The drinks are super fun. The menu is scattered with little vegan options but doesn’t scream at you that it’s anything special. The vegan cheese dip was really good. Loved the spice in there, it felt like too. Not heavy like real cheese. The guac and ceviche were excellent as well. We had a reservation, which I recommend because this place filled up super quick on a week night. I would definitely come back here and recommend to a friend. If I lived in the neighborhood I’d probably just stop by the bar for a drink. Street parking isn’t super easy to find but there is some free parking. This spot probably isn’t great for kids. Better for adult friends or even a casual date.
