We stopped by Outpost Tavern late on a Sunday morning and were immediately impressed by the lively atmosphere. Even though it was busy with about a 20-minute wait for a table, we were lucky to grab the last two seats at the bar — and we’re glad we did!
The bar had a warm, upbeat vibe, and the staff were both attentive and personable, with a great sense of humor that made us feel right at home.
We started with cocktails — the Golden Hour and Crimson Velvet — and both were absolutely fantastic. So good, in fact, that we couldn’t stop at just one.
For food, we ordered a little bit of everything because the menu was too tempting to choose just one dish. The shells and cheese were rich, creamy, and truly to die for — absolute comfort food perfection. The Tavern wings came with a sweet & spicy sauce; while flavorful, they leaned more teriyaki than expected and we missed having a balanced mix of flats and drums. The nachos were fresh and fun in presentation, though we would love to see additional protein options like chicken or beef in the future.
Despite those small details, everything tasted fresh and well-prepared, and the overall experience was fantastic. Between the vibrant atmosphere, excellent service, and great food and drinks, Outpost Tavern is definitely a place we’ll be returning to soon.

This was my second time visiting The Outpost. Great service, food was delicious. I got the shrimp & grits which was one of the specials. Also ordered a side of hash browns which were nice and crispy.

Do not sleep on the burger! The Tavern Burger with smoked Gouda, caramelized onions with truffle aioli on an onion poppyseed bun is one of the best burgers I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating. The Breakfast Burrito with chorizo was also a huge hit! Big props!

Came for the blood Mary’s and they didn’t disappoint. I got the original Bloody Mary spicy and my husband got the Maria de la Caribbean. Of course we got the garnishes. Service was decent.

Genuine great sleeper hit. Stopped here during a run/walk on a Sunday around 2. Within 20 minutes it was packed and for good reason. First – the staff. Every single one constantly checking on everyone, running around but having fun and engaging. They also helped a customer from out of town figure out where else to go during his trip. They have done a great job hiring. Second the food, not what I expected but the clearly homemade cinnamon butter is a nice touch. Every other dish I saw go by looked awesome too. And third, the drink options are festive, constantly changing plus the usual bar staples if that’s what you’re there for. I would definitely recommend this place.

Pretty good tavern-like food but elevated.
It’s really good but not something I’ll remember eating two weeks from now.
Solid choice for dinner and drinks though.
I had their “dog” which is pictured below and was the best hot dog I’ve probably ever had.

Fantastic Mother’s Day Brunch! We were able to sit outside in the great weather. Our server Kelly was wonderful, quick, and attentive. All of the food was delicious! Between thr 3 of us we shared the Sticky Cinnamon Roll, Blueberry Pancakes, French Toast, Crossantwich, and Smoked Salmon Benedict. Each dish was really flavorful and very yummy! We will be back!

Bartender was very rude to us and other patrons. Really?! We are going there to have a good time and upon walking in felt very taken back. Closest bar to our house and will NEVER go back! Too many other options to waste $ to be treated so poorly. We walked down the street to another bar and were received like they appreciated us being there. Spent a bunch of $ and tipped very generously and will continue to do so at bars all over Fed Hill and Locust Point EXCEPT at Outpost!!!!!!

Charming offbeat tavern with a cool and warm vibe at the same time. Great music too!
Love the layout, hostess promptly sat us at a high table next to a large bay window.
Great selection of bourbons, excellent recommendation from our servers Alex and Julia! We were very well taken care of.
House Ground burger is amazing. Thick juicy bison and shortrib pattie with the perfect bun. The bun really does complete the burger in this case (along with the truffle fries). Pork Belly tacos are awesome too!
Apple and pear crumb for dessert is superb. A burst of crunch and not too sweet.
A hidden treasure in Federal Hill, something out of the ordinary and highly recommended!!

Cozy restaurant with great outdoor seating. They have weeknight specials different days of the week so definitely check those out when you visit! We went on Wednesday when they have mussel frites and discounted wine bottles. It’s a great deal not only for the price but also because you can take the wine bottle home if you don’t finish it. The mussel frites were also delicious, we had the white wine Parmesan version. Also had the house side salad and that was nice as well with a great dressing and some delicious tomatoes sprinkled in.
