We really enjoyed our first visit to Hacienda! ✨ I brought my two kids and one of their buddy’s for lunch. The food was great. The staff were super friendly and helpful. My favorite part was the murals! I must say that they have competitive pricing as well and many specials to choose from. We’ll be back!

A truly outstanding dining experience! At Hacienda El Rey, the food delivers bold, authentic Mexican flavors with fresh, perfectly balanced dishes that keep you coming back for more. What truly sets this place apart, though, is the service — especially from Amina, whose warm, attentive hospitality turns every meal into something special. From the vibrant atmosphere to every perfectly crafted bite and impeccable service, Hacienda El Rey stands head and shoulders above other local spots — simply the best in the area.

The quesa-birria and the homemade chips & guac are my two favorite things on the menu! Great portion with 3 large tacos guac is super fresh! Everything is so so flavorful. Plenty of leftovers for the next day. Very family friendly atmosphere and everyone seems to work together to care for tables.

Was excited for the taco tuesday specials. The 1.99 tacos tasted and looked amazing. Our server was Jessica and she was amazing. She was very attentive and answered all our questions. Would definitely come back!

This was our first time dining here, and I was thoroughly impressed. The restaurant has a warm, inviting atmosphere that immediately sets the tone for a great experience.

The food exceeded expectations. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The birria tacos were perfectly seasoned, the fajitas were hearty and delicious, and the guacamole was easily among the best I’ve ever had.

Service was excellent as well. Yasica was welcoming, attentive, and very helpful in guiding us through the menu as a first-time guests.

Portions were generous, prices were very reasonable, and the overall quality was outstanding. I’m already looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu. A fantastic first visit, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic cuisine.

The best Mexican restaurant in the Charlotte area! The food is great and the service is awesome. The owners Nelly and Victor are great and do a lot for the community of Waxhaw. If I could give it 10 stars I definitely would. Highly recommend!

I’m convinced I didn’t just eat at a Mexican restaurant — I had a spiritual awakening wrapped in a tortilla.

From the moment I walked in, the aroma alone nearly brought tears to my eyes. The chips arrived at the table warm, perfectly salted, and accompanied by salsa so good I briefly considered asking the waiter for a straw. If this salsa were sold in stores, the global economy would collapse because no one would ever leave their house again.

Then the food arrived.

The tacos were not tacos. They were masterpieces. The tortillas were clearly blessed by culinary angels. The carne asada was so perfectly seasoned that I had to pause mid-bite and stare at the wall while reconsidering every life decision that led me to eat anywhere else before today.

And the queso… my word. This wasn’t cheese dip. This was liquid gold. If Fort Knox stored this queso instead of gold bars, the United States would finally achieve world peace because everyone would be too busy dipping chips to fight.

Service? Flawless. The staff moved with the precision of a Formula 1 pit crew but with the warmth of a family reunion. My drink was never empty. Not once. I’m fairly certain the server could sense my thirst telepathically.

By the end of the meal I was full, emotional, and questioning whether I should move closer to this restaurant to simplify my life.

In conclusion:
If you live within 200 miles of this place and you’re not eating here regularly, you’re doing life wrong.

Such a great Mexican food restaurant! Definitely our go to as a family! My daughter and I eat here more than the whole family because Mexican is our favorite! Spicy salsa is great so is the queso. Food is always great and so is the service. The owner is fabulous so energetic and making sure everything is great for your meal.

We came to El Rey for my birthday lunch because the original restaurant we planned to go to was closed. This was only the second time going, the first time when they first opened years ago. It was good then and it is exceptional now. The salsa served with the tortilla chips was just as I like it: thick and spicy, though you get a mild one too. But the Hacienda plate, full of plump shrimp, chicken and steak strips, and a homemade cheese sauce was simply mouth-watering! And it was a large portion for lunch. I took half home to enjoy later. The top shelf margarita was worth the extra $$ because it was a generous pour and an attractive presentation with fresh fruit slices. The wait staff was attentive and pleasant. When the waitress realized it was my birthday, she offered me a complimentary dessert. My only complaint, if you’d call it that, is indoors was extremely cold. We ate outside to be more comfortable. I’d highly recommend El Rey for fresh, well curated Mexican food.
