Mr Huang Claypot Braised Chicken

  4.4 – 97 reviews   • Chinese takeaway

Mr. Huang’s Claypot Chicken serves hearty, warm and convenient claypot meals. Clay pot chicken originates from the ancient city of Zhoucun, the birthplace of Shandong cuisine during the Qing dynasty. The dish was beloved by the provincial governor, who praised the fresh meat’s tender texture and the contrast of the finely sifted and fluffy rice with the thick, savory sauce. After 300 years of history, it is now a signature dish of the modern-day capital of Shandong, Jinan. Today, clay pot chicken is enjoyed all over China as a staple meal that customers will enjoy time after time for its flexibility, convenience, texture, and unique flavor.

– delicious chicken set –

I’ve ordered takeout from here several times, and the food has always been great. I like both the chicken and the pork rib ones that I’ve tried, and you can order the one person combo which comes with a drink or dessert of your choice from their list of options. My favorite is the milk pudding, but I think most people choose the peach drink.

The portion is good and I almost never finished the whole thing for one meal. I think this place has a good CP value considering that I’ve paid less than $16 for the braised chicken, seaweed soup, white rice, and the milk pudding. There is also a promotion on HungryPanda, so I got a milk tea for free as well.

PS. They do have a small area for you to dine in, but it’s really just a takeout place tbh.

It’s more of a take out spot but the combo meal is phenomenal in taste and value! Small seating area. Two drinks (or sub dessert), two soups, one chicken appetizer and huge bowl of pork belly and veg. Everything tasted absolutely delicious and all of this was $36? I will definitely get 2-4 more meals from this combo! First time coming here but I’m astonished and will definitely be a regular. Excuse the bad lighting in the photo.

The atmosphere is bare-bones, but clean and friendly. We ordered the large pork belly and short rib combo to split between two people and were not prepared for the absolute feast we received! The sides and dessert were delicious and the main dish tasted like home-cooked comfort food. Tender meats and huge chunks of vegetable in a savory broth really hit the spot on a cold and soggy day. The value for the price can’t be beat – it was enough for a large lunch plus dinner the next day for two people. We will be back to try more dishes!

Amazing food since new management took over. Authentic Sichuan chicken with enough Szechuan pepper.

I ate the fish too fast for the photo because it was so tasty.

Their chicken is amazing too but their fish is truly out of this world.

Tender, delicious chicken with rich flavor. The price is reasonable and the quantity is generous. The rice which comes as part of the order is unexpectedly good. Will definitely come again to try their pork rib.

Another delicious take out experience in Seattle. We had their bone-in chicken which was served with potatoes and green pepper in a flavorful broth. The volume was huge and fulfilling. Would recommend carefully eating the chicken as the bones are splintered. Great take out service. Would return here again.

Despite the fast food type of restaurant size, you can feel the hospitality from the server. Food is amazing too both in taste and value!

Bellevue’s Chinese cuisine gets better every year, and this is an amazing addition that has a lot of less common dishes I haven’t seen prolifically elsewhere. I suspect it’s not to every westerner’s tastes, but if you’re into new foods, they’re not kidding about the ‘comfort food that still seems high quality’ vibe. Small space for dining in, which is mildly a shame because I suspect most of their food deserves to be eaten immediately, but if it keeps their costs low and helps them stay in business for the long haul, I’d be happy to eat in a broom closet. A real gem for the area.

First place I actually like since moving to Washington a few years ago. The braised chicken combo with the milk tea used to be really good. Big portions and tasted perfect. Puffy tofu was good to add since it soaks up the soup.

Unfortunately, they seemed to have changed the recipe maybe around summer 2024? The braised chicken soup tastes a bit off now (not totally bad, but not as good as before) and they switched out their milk tea to something very generic.

FYI most of the customer photos in the listing seem to be the old recipe.

Highly NOT RECOMMENDED! I would give 0 star if Google allows me to disk. I ordered take out from delivery portal. But the coconut jelly is moldy.
