I ordered the chicken and waffles, my wife had the mumbo wings, and our son got the kids hot dog meal — which was honestly adult-sized. The food was solid across the board. Everything came out fresh, flavorful, and well-portioned.
The atmosphere really stood out. The design and artwork throughout the restaurant give it a cool, upscale vibe without feeling stiff. It’s a very well-thought-out space. The bar is massive and impressive — you can even see it from the second floor, which adds to the overall aesthetic.
The staff was friendly, professional, and attentive without being overbearing. Service felt smooth and welcoming.
One of the best parts is the location. Sitting there with a direct view of Nationals Park through the windows makes it a scenic spot, especially if you’re in the area for a game or just exploring Navy Yard.
Overall, it’s a very nice spot with good food, great design, and a strong atmosphere. We’d definitely come back.
Good:
– Super nice ambiance, feels like a jazz club
– The bolognese pasta was really tasty and huge portion size
– The staff were super nice and patient, they let me take my laptop out and work as well.
Bad:
– Overpriced, paid $40 for my meal and just had a soup and a bowl of pasta.
Overall this was a bougie stop but I enjoyed the vibes and resting here before my next flight.
All of the food was awesome no complaints at all. It was so fun getting to try so many items on the menu; honestly, a girl’s dream Bacon and tequila + wings?! I was sad I didn’t get dessert, but I definitely will next time because I’m officially a regular now lol.
The bartender was great to watch as he perfected each drink, and our waiter checked on us with a smile the whole time. I could honestly go on and on about this place.
Let’s just say you’ll definitely be seeing me again! Thanks, Gatsby, for making our NYE dinner so sweet.
Our hostess seemed confused from the jump. Half of our party was left standing outside in plain view because they wouldn’t seat us until everyone was inside. Even after we all came in, we still waited another 10 minutes. While we were waiting, staff were just posted up (see photo).
We came to watch the game, and I asked ahead of time if we could sit downstairs for that reason. Instead, they tried to seat us upstairs where there were no TVs. Then we asked if our party of six could have tables pushed together and were told no — that they “couldn’t do anything like that,” so we had to make it work.
Here’s the part that really bothered me: about 30 minutes later, a party of 10 came in and they immediately pushed tables together for them… while we’re sitting there watching it happen.
Our waiter, Alex, was cool. He worked the bar, stayed professional, and handled what we needed — but the responses were a bit slow. We all sat down at the same time, and one of our friends ordered first (the “Taste of Gatsby” combo). Everyone else’s food came out, and they were still sitting there with only deviled eggs and some biscuits. It was awkward watching them sit across the table looking hungry, disappointed, and honestly kind of left out, while Alex had to go track down what happened.
The food was okay, but it wasn’t good enough to overshadow what felt like selective treatment and disorganized service.
