Enduring option serving steaks, seafood & Southern dishes in a casual, colonial-style setting.

We had hoped to enjoy our meal, but unfortunately, the quality of the meat was unsatisfactory and did not justify the cost. We spent $230 on three adult meals and one children’s meal, and the children’s meal was particularly disappointing. My steak was tough and unappetizing. I love the atmosphere and service.

We had a very memorable dining experience at The Jefferson Restaurant. The atmosphere is nice, well decorated and friendly. The food is also excellent. I had the fried sirloin and it was delicious. Our server was also great, very friendly and perfectly attentive. A really great meal.

This is a quiet, cozy, family owned restaurant. The decor is beautiful and rustic and you can entertain yourself just looking at the walls while you wait for your food, not that the wait time for food is long at all. A good place for nourishing, hearty meals that feel like real food, which can be difficult to find when you’re on vacation! The free bread on the tables is so good. The staff are very mindful of food allergies. Every time we drive to Williamsburg we eat here on the first night because it’s such a nice place to relax and refuel after a long car ride.

My husband and I had dinner here last night and it was fantastic! This a family-owned spot and you can feel the pride they have for this place. Our server Brittany was wonderful and the food was delicious. And it was a great value. Half the cost of the other places we considered for dinner and just as good! The restaurant was quiet even with other guests, and as sound technicians my husband and I took notice of and appreciated the lack of noise from the busy street outside. We never felt like we had to yell to hear each other, but it was never uncomfortably quiet either. Definitely will be dining here again

I don’t understand how this restaurant has 5 stars and good reviews. My sister, her husband, my husband and I were there last Friday. The food was HORRIBLE!! And we are not picky and commonly will find something good but everything was awful including the salad! I had the fried chicken and ribs, the chicken was so tiny with no meat on it, and the ribs were mainly all gristle.

I wanted to like this restaurant so badly, and the staff were very nice and attentive. But the atmosphere and food were just not good.
The decor is insanely dated…but not in a charming way. It smelled and looked like an old dingy hotel and the chairs were falling apart (visible springs coming out of the bottom) to the point that I thought I’d fall through the seat. The art on the walls was mismatched and unappealing.
The food was prepared poorly. The meat was very dry, potato overcooked, and ribs looked like they were boiled, unseasoned, and then bottled BBQ sauce was poured on it. Ice cream sundae was two scoops of vanilla ice cream with a squirt of bottled chocolate sauce and a cherry tossed on top. The only accurate description is “cafeteria food”.
Again, the staff were very attentive, friendly, and warm. If they update the inside of the restaurant and hire a better cook, we would totally go back. Otherwise, it’s just not worth the money.

Looking to eat someplace different. Stopped in. They were not over crowded. One group had a screaming toddler, which wasn’t the fault of the establishment. When they left, the place was quiet. Our salads were good, enough dressing, which is rare, to me. The roll, one each, was hot and delicious. My wife had the seafood platter, she didn’t care much for the crabcake. It was a little sweet. But, very little filler. Everything tasted under seasoned. I got the broiled shrimp and scallops. Mine, too was under seasoned. Her baked potato was fine. I did really like the mashed potatoes and beef gravy. She loved her tea. I ordered a pina colada mocktail. The waiter didn’t hear the “mock”tail. He did remake it when I pointed that out. The dessert was good, triple chocolate cake and banana chocolate cake. But at $10 per slice seemed a little small. Overall, it was OK, but not great. Had we sprinkled a little salt on it, would have been better.

This place is charming. The service was fun and friendly. We went in with not the highest expectations. As there were only 3 of us, we didn’t get the chance to try many of the food options, but the menu offers something for everyone. Is the decor outdated? Yes. Are the copper decorations polished and gleaming? Yes. It’s obvious this family owned restaurant is still run with pride. Big Greek salad was good, with a generous amount of feta. Peanut soup is…an experience. It’s a little time capsule of a restaurant.

We first passed by this restaurant on our way to the hotel, and we immediately knew we would go to eat there. The very architecture of that little place was so inviting! And the experience did not disappoint. The waitresses dressed in the waiting staff uniforms of that time, various things, like little sculptures and drawings that portray Jefferson’s time – it was very nice. Our waitress was Brittany, and her suggestions turned out exactly what we wanted to eat. The place belongs to the four generations of one family, and we cannot recommend it highly enough!
