what a unique culinary experience! stumbled upon this place while searching endlessly for a lively, but local joint to walk into. seems to be run by a family (a few sisters?). fun to watch them make the food on the main griddle and then pass it over to stay warm on your personal griddle. and Asahi on draft, baseball game on the little tv. perfection!

Delicous food and good prices. It’s a small restaurant so be prepared to wait. Once you are seated, they are pretty quick at taking your order and delivering your food. It’s cash only.

Delicious food in a traditional cozy atmosphere! We loved this place so much, we went there twice during our stay. We tried seafood okonomiyaki, vegetable-only okonomiyaki, and soba noodles. All were very delicious. All are prepared fresh with fresh ingredients, and served to a hot plate integrated in the table so that the food stays warm all the time. Vegetarian options were for us a plus. The staff is very welcoming, attentive, and friendly. They were so happy to see us the second time we showed up and greeted us with huge smiles.
Thank you for an unforgettable experience.

Chose Yasubee due to other reviews and they were spot on. We arrived about 6pm in a Friday night and didn’t need to wait but were the last table. Friendly staff, delicious food and drinks. We tried Okonomiyaki (pork and beef and beef with cheese) – all delicious. Also had Negi-yaki (chicken) and yaki-soba with beef.
Service was quick and English menu available. Great experience! Will try to come again on our last day in Kyoto.

Loved this Okonomiyaki – vegetarian friendly. We actually ordered seconds it was that good. Lots of sauces and the staff were so friendly. We arrived just before 7 and waited around 10 minutes – it started raining and we were given an umbrella which was nice! Good cheap option

Delicious food, kind staff. We had beef okonomiyaki with noodles (they have special name for this) which was very tasty and big. Every table has heaters so it never goes cold. Great experience. Thanks!

WOW! Other reviews led me to this place. We walked in and saw how local it was and wondered if we would be able to order. The friendly staff immediately gave us an English menu and were very accommodating to our dietary needs. Food was AMAZING … we reordered a few dishes. About 60-70% of the customers were Japanese so that speaks to the authentic taste. Will certainly return when next in Kyoto!

We loved it here so much that we had our dinner here three days in a row! And we would have kept coming if we weren’t leaving Kyoto for our next stop.

The okonomiyaki, negiyaki, and yakisoba are all delicious! Draught beer and plum wine with soda were our go-to drinks. The food is cooked on a larger teppan, and served in front of you on a smaller teppan that keeps the food warm.

The staff are all kind and attentive. The chefs are experts at their craft. The man running the floor recognized us the second and third times we came by. We had the feel of being “regulars” after only a couple days, and I’m sad to leave!

We never had a wait, though we tend to eat on the early side (before 5:30). We did come in around 7:00 on a Saturday and got seated immediately as well, though it was quite rainy out. I would have waited in line in the rain, though. It would have been worth it.

I already made a deal with my husband that if I watch all of his favorite anime (One Piece, more than 1140 episodes), he’ll pay for the next trip to Japan and all the okonomiyaki I can eat from Yasubee! I’m starting as soon as possible because I can’t wait to come back!
