This unassuming little diner rocks! I haven’t eaten a full plate of food in a loooong time but the open faced roast beef sandwich was perfect! The only thing I would ask to change is the temperature in the dining room. It is so cold I had to request extra gravy to warm up the other half of my food.
The service wasn’t spectacular although a woman who might be the owner, addressed us and brought our drinks to us. The server took a little time getting me the extra gravy. We stacked our dishes to show we were done and it took it a while to acknowledge it. She didn’t seem very focused on us. Its not a big place and she didn’t appear to be behind.
Overall, I would still recommend it. We drove about 30 mins to try it and would do it again.

I was impressed by this restaurant. They were busy on a Saturday morning but everyone still had smiles on and I never saw the bottom of my coffee cup. Their portion sizes are generous. I got the country skillet. It was delicious. We also got french toast, chocolate chip pancake, and sausage links. Everything was cooked and made just the way we ordered it. Me and my husband decided when we are going through Indiana we are stopping here for breakfast! What a great find. Oh and they have Pepsi products.

I’ve visited Peggy Sue’s diner for the breakfast on the way to the Indiana Dunes national park. It’s located in vibrant downtown Chesterton area. The interior was surprisingly well maintained and well designed for a diner. I really liked the interiors.
We ordered a porky pig skillet, breakfast burrito and a small order of French toast.
Skillet tasted authentic, it came with a toast.Breakfast burrito was bland for my taste but has a rich flavour, it comes with either hash browns/ tater tots. My expectations were on the French toast but ut did disappoint me a bit. It was bland and not much of flavour. Overall, the quantity is definitely huge portions for 2 people. The quality of the food for the charged amount is phenomenal.

Perfect post-dunes for out of towners! This place is adorable. The food was spectacular. Service was friendly, they went above and beyond to make our experience great. Our server was Edin – thank you! You can tell by looking around, it has a unique history and people love it. Highly highly recommend visiting. The prices are very reasonable.

Anyone with young kids will love this diner. Anyone who appreciates an authentic non-Waffle house cookie cutter chain restaurant will love this diner. Coffee cups always full, B&G is the best on the planet , and if you dont leave without a smile you’re probably just a big ole stick in the mud. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for a unique dining experience that will take you back to a bygone era.

Peggy Sue’s Diner, an enclave of 1950s Americana, stands as a beacon of culinary nostalgia. It’s a place where time seems to have screeched to a halt, preserving the essence of a bygone era in its vinyl booths and checkerboard floors. This joint isn’t just a diner; it’s a sanctuary for those yearning for a taste of the past, a diamond in the rough where the authenticity of the era pulsates through every jukebox tune.

Here, the locals flock, drawn in by the magnetic pull of familiarity and comfort. They’re not just customers; they’re part of a community, a collective reminiscence of simpler times. The staff, they’re the unsung heroes of this establishment, masters of their craft with a knack for remembering your name and how you like your coffee.

And the food! It’s a rebellious uproar against the blandness of modern cuisine. I had the smothered biscuit – a dish so sinfully delightful, it feels like an act of defiance against the health-crazed trends of today. It’s a masterful symphony of flavors, a culinary rebellion served on a plate.

Peggy Sue’s isn’t just a diner. It’s a testament to the enduring allure of the American diner culture, a place where the past and present collide in the most delicious way possible. Here, in this timeless haven, every bite is a trip down memory lane, and every visit feels like coming home.

Welcoming diner with a Route 66 motif going. Service was great. The place is welcoming and there were a few regulars in when we stopped, so it is obviously liked. I was not impressed with the tenderloin. Seemed like a GFS tenderloin, which is fine in its place, but this is Indiana. Tenderloins are the state sandwich.

That said. Would definitely return and just order something different.

The food was ok. Although, the ham & bean soup was delish.
It’s a small place, cute atmosphere but sooo Loud! I’m assuming it was the owner bc all I heard 10x was she was headed to the gym and her voice holy cow, bring it down a few notches.
Our waitress was very good. We definitely won’t be back, what a shame bc we were really looking forward to it.
Kinda hard to get into bldg, so idk if u had a wheelchairs if it would be possible.
