Jean, we absolutely adore you. Thank you for making every single one of our visits special.
We rather eat at non-fast food places and normally don’t mind a wait for quality food. This was no exception. The service was good and the wait was reasonable about 20 minutes or so..
The food was excellent. I had a grilled chicken sandwich and my partner had a grilled chicken wrap. We both had a side salad and we were both satisfied with the taste and the quantity of our food. We will be returning and highly recommend you try the Behive too.
This is not a major venue or a stop to impress your friends kind of place. This is a good value with consistent regulars and reasonable food.
Y’all know the deal so let’s go.
Atmosphere- nothing to write home about. More modern sports bar style. Clean. Regulars are polite and very clearly enjoy this as a simple solace rather than a dive bar, get drunk and fuss about the world. Very welcoming to new people. No music blaring or TV too loud. You could hold solid conversation without amplifying your voice.
Food – it is quality food at the price point. Don’t expect a Michelin star meal, but also not your ‘open a package and microwave ‘ place. They cook with some good flavor and care for the quality. Nothing that WOW’d but also nothing that disappointed.
Service – all the staff was kind and respectful. They were not hovering and also not ignoring. They made routine stops enough to keep the balance of good service and not feeling neglected.
The locals were more reserved and clustered more together, but for a place a tad off the beaten path this is to be expected. I recommend if you swing through. Kind people that work hard and respectful/respectable to support.
Now, it is a tad limited as far as space, especially during winter with the outside closed. There was about 20-26 spots at the bar and about ten tables that sat fourish people. So don’t bring your family reunion and expect gold star treatment. Their customers are also a bit more inconsistent so some days could be dead one week and packed the next. So best to enjoy in 5ish or less.
My bar tab was a burger with a side of fries of chili, a batch of cheese curds and three cocktail drinks around $50. Roughly on par for what I got comparatively in Wisconsin.
There was a live band playing on the stage out back that was literally in front of a corn field. Great place.
Food came pretty quickly and in really decent portions. We agreed the perch had more flavor than the haddock and both liked it. The haddock was ok, but wasn’t bad. We liked the chippers over the fries as well.
For a bar/grill it was nice inside. Food and service was pretty good and timely. Decent atmosphere that wasn’t too loud but had TVs and music. We’ll definitely go back again.
