This place is so great. As a newer resident, I’ve explored a few places in Gainesville and this one is reallllllly really really good. I asked them for their favorite/preference, and they gave me a rib dinner. The meat is the perfect texture imo, the bbq sauce is really classic/traditional and unique, the greens taste like something out of a home, and the rice is 10/10, especially with the peas.
They have coke and pepsi
I totally recommend this, I am excited to try their oxtail and their brisket. Perfect Saturday lunch stop joint 🙂

My wife and I got the red snapper lunch and griot lunch. The both were fantastic. My collards were the best I’ve had in a while as well. My wife got the ribs with Mac n Cheese and that’s a whole meal unto itself. We will definitely be coming back!

Bite Down Barbecue in Gainesville, FL, truly lives up to its name! If you’re looking for fall-off-the-bone BBQ that’s bursting with flavor, look no further. The meat is incredibly tender, a testament to their slow-cooking expertise. The sides mouth watering, And let’s talk about the sauce – it’s a perfect balance of sweet, smoky, and tangy, complementing the meat without overpowering it. Simply put, it’s 10 out of 10 and hands down one of the best in town. Highly recommended!

The food was so good, and I don’t even like barbecue. We had been seeing them on the corner of 13th street for ages before finally succumbing to the delicious, tantalizing smells. We had the ribs with original barbecue and two sides (rice and macncheese), a chicken sandwich with jerk sauce, and a Pineapple Lemonade. Again, coming from someone that doesn’t like barbecue typically because of the smoked aspect, they are doing something damn right with the way they smoke their meats. The meat is still tender, juicy, and flavorful. The Pineapple Lemonade tastes like pineapple upside down cake in liquid form – it’s gold, but if you’re looking for something more tart and lemony, it probably wouldn’t be your style because it’s SWEET. Tangy, but very, very sweet. The only setbacks were the fact that I could’ve used a little bit more seasoning on the rice and macncheese – the meat had flavor, but the sides seemed to lack a little. However I will say that the sides had the best textures I have ever had for macncheese and rice. Along with that, I wish we saw some different bread, like maybe some Texas style toast for the chicken sandwich. Regardless, this was an absolutely A+ meal and we look forward to trying more menu items and frequenting their truck!

Everything was great food. The food was fresh . I just wish they had the banana pudding. But I ended up getting the chicken dinner with Mac and baked beans . The mac was good and the beans were sweet and flavorful. Please try the jerk sauce and the fruit punch . Their customer service was excellent we were welcomed very nicely and were even able to try a sample of their ribs.

When your ikidsn a college town & there is 60+ restaurants in a .5 mile radius & this BBQ food trailer & another restaurant show 4.8 stars OVER all the rest,you stop try it out, give them a great review

If you are a fan of real BBQ and live in the Gainesville, FL area, consider yourself lucky. Bite Down BBQ provides. They set up at the corner of Archer Road & 34th Street and utilize several delivery services. (They also do events.) There are many offerings but for the life of me I can’t get away from the ribs. Succulent and tender, a rib dinner, if consumed in its entirety, will require a long nap – or you can do what I do and save some for lunch the next day. (Insider tip: Ask them to “sauce it up” and you’ll have a variety of delicious sauces applied.) I sampled the Haitian specialty griot, and it was excellent. Tender with a spicy sauce, it’s a carnivore’s delight served with rice and fried plantains. Traditional sides like mac & cheese, beans, and greens are available. Is this cheap food? No. Is it worth every penny? 1000% yes.

I had the bbq brisket dinner plate recommended to me by the owner. I was deeply disappointed to receive extremely dry brisket. The brisket when pulled apart would string and was extremely dry without the bbq sauce. The Mac and cheese barely had any cheese and mostly tasted of garlic. The baked beans were very sweet and lacked any savoryness. Overall very disappointed with the meal I received especially paying $25. The service and staff were great, though.

The food was spot on amazing! It was very flavorful and well seasoned. The sauce that came along with it was very nice. This is a business that I can see myself supporting longterm and the energy is amazing. Try the food!! You won’t regret the experience.
