They make the best smoked brisket! Their pizza topping combinations look delicious too.

The level of disappointment i had was crazy. Pulling up i got the feeling I was going to have taste buds dancing. Unfortunately the brisket and rack of ribs killed my taste buds. It was terrible and petrified. Cornbread was frozen, I brought this to The teenagers attention at the desk and kindly asked if he could just microwave it. Apparently they don’t have microwaves….. don’t waste your time. I love bbq, but this place is a firm no. I’m surprised they’re still in business giving people this crap bbq. I usually don’t put photos, but see photo for petrified bbq. If I wanted jerky I would go to a jerky outlet.

Stopped in on Saturday with a few friends and had a great lunch. If you’ve never been here you have to try this place! The place has friendly service and a nice little indoor dining room. For nice weather days they have a covered patio/deck as well. They offer a nice selection of sauces and we all opted for one of each sauce with our meals. Pictured are the sauces, chicken wings, ribs, mac and cheese, coleslaw, corn bread and the station wagon meal which is large enough for 2-3 people to split. They also have a selection of sandwiches and wood fired pizzas available which looked amazing. Don’t sleep on this place – try it out!

Outstanding smoked meats! I had some brisket along with some wings. My fiance and her boy both had brisket tacos and really enjoyed them. Really nice layout inside. The only negative thing was that it was VERY warm inside of thebuilding. Like HOT! The delicious food will definitely have us returning again.

I’ve been going the the Char intermittently for years now. Unfortunately they are a bit too far for a day to day stop. With that said, I’ve never been disappointed with the food. They are usually busy. They have a hopping takeout business, so dining in can be a bit of a wait, although well worth it. My family and I have tried most of the Char’s offerings with wonderful results. I would recommend the loaded mac and cheese. The staff is always cheerful, helpful, and pleasant. I will continue to return.

The wings and pizza were fabulous, and strongly recommended! I personally am not a chicken wing fan, but this was good. The beef was good. The chicken was however very dry.
All in all a pleasant place. We see lots of people doing takeaways.
Also, it would be nice if they allowed some substitution of certain meats for the sets. We wanted to order the Char Sampler set, but it had two pork items, and we don’t really eat pork. We were told that substitutions were not allowed.

An old Western Saloon atmosphere in this small bump in the road village brings some big Bbq tastes.
I ordered the Char Sampler ($28). This includes a tasting of Ribs, Wings, Brisket, Pulled Pork, and Pulled Chicken. It also included the sides pickles and Pickled Slaw. Everything was very pure tasting. Meaning you could taste the high quality meat in every bite. Everything is seasoned, but lightly. This lets the meat speak for itself. The portion size is generous, which makes this a great value. I also ordered a large side of Pork and Beans ($5), because I love bbq baked beans. I kinda consider myself a connoisseur of Baked Beans. Sadly I found myself not liking them. I didn’t hate them, but I didn’t finish them. It’s possible it’s because they are vinegar based, so that may be your thing. I also got myself some Cornbread ($3), which should come with a sampler. That being said it was excellent. Moist and very flavorful. The person I was with ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich ($8) and some cornbread. She loved the sandwich and the cornbread. The only other slightly negative thing is the bbq sauce are only okay at best. I tried the Kansas City sauce and it was acceptable, I used it, but I didn’t take any home for my leftovers. The person I was with tried the Carolina Mustard and wasn’t a fan.
The service is with a smile and tries to be efficient. They need a little work, but it’s not by any means bad.
Overall a 4 star review. Would I return? Absolutely, it’s excellent bbq. If your in the area or are making the rounds of West Michigan bbq this should definitely be a stop.

I dropped by one nice Saturday afternoon and was very happy with my meal. I got the mini meal sampler with chopped brisket and pulled pork. I had the pork and beans and mac & cheese as sides. The meat was fantastic and tender with great flavor. There are a bunch of options for sauce, and both I tried worked well. The mac & cheese was delicious with lots of tangy cheese flavor. The beans were pretty heavy on the tomato, but were still good. Overall, I was very satisfied with my meal and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend American Char.

Came here with some friends and ordered a 1/2 brisket and two small sides of Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. I also tried the apple pie. The Mac and cheese was good, just a bit boring in flavor after while. The mashed potatoes were covered in “rustic butter”. The apple pie was delicious, and I unfortunately let it get a bit cold since I saved it for last. The brisket meat was good and flavorful, and the sauces seem to be free with the entrees, so you’re free to experiment with flavors.
