We decided to step out of our usual comfort zone of familiar local restaurants and try Ming Tree — and we’re glad we did!

The first thing that stood out was how clean everything was, followed by the quick and friendly service that got us seated right away. The menu offered a great variety of choices. My wife ordered the Sweet and Sour Pork with Lo Mein, which included chicken, pork, and shrimp — everything was fresh and full of flavor. I went with the General Chow’s Chicken. The sauce was tasty without being too spicy, and the rice was perfectly cooked and fresh.

I had my mind set on Orange Chicken, which they didn’t have, but with so many other good options, it wasn’t a problem. The prices are very reasonable and competitive with other local spots.

Thanks to the Ming Tree team for a great dining experience — we’ll definitely be back!

Everything about this visit was good. My waiter was a terrific guy. Incredibly conscientious. The food was really really good! The fried noodles that they give you when you first arrive at your table….so good! The hot and sour soup was delicious. The egg rolls were quite big and even though they were mostly cabbage inside, they were some of the best I’ve had in a while. The beef and broccoli was a large portion with with carrots and bamboo shoots as well as broccoli. It had an almost smokey flavor to it that was unique and delicious! I plan to go here again when I’m back in Knoxville.

We ate here the evening of 8/30 and really enjoyed it. Our server was an older gentleman and he created a lovely experience for us. Even though we only wanted an assortment of our favorite apps, everything was presented beautifully. I’ve been coming to Ming Tree for a long time but hadn’t been there since they renovated and I loved the new modern tables. Everything is very clean as other reviewers have described. The food was tasty and we really enjoyed the complimentary crispy noodles.

Stopped here for dinner after all day flying. What a wonderful surprise. We were seated right away. The restaurant was clean. Our food was good. The only bad part was our spring rolls were still frozen in the middle. But they apologized and brought new ones. Service was good and prompt. I recommend visiting if you are in the area.

AMAZING RESTAURANT! My new favorite place to dine (it’s really hard to make my “favorite ” list). Unbelievably, I have driven past this restaurant for 30 years or more and never given it a second thought. Two weeks ago my Maryville friends suggested we have dinner here and I’m so happy they did. The restaurant facility itself is very unassuming, especially viewing from the outside. The Ming Tree is is in a small strip shopping center and is located on busy Alcoa Highway, across from the runways at McGhee Tyson Airport. Once inside the dining room the atmosphere is casual and very pleasant. The restaurant is immaculate. The dining room is a medium size room with a mix of tables booths. My friends quickly introduced me to Rudy, our server, whom is a long time employee. Rudy is fantastic and an excellent server. If you’re lucky enough to sit in his section, you’ll immediately appreciate his kind and caring demeanor. I ordered one of my favorite Chinese dishes; sweet and sour chicken. Needless to say, it was DELICIOUS! Absolutely perfect in every respect. It was a large portion, so come hungry! My friends all have their favorite Ming Tree menu items and entrées. They ordered a variety of food items, everything from soups to egg rolls and fried rice. Everyone enjoyed our respective meals and without doubt, left very happy and satisfied. The menu here offers large selection of Chinese favorites, everything you would expect from a good Chinese food. Ming Tree is excellent for large and small groups. It’s also perfect for dining alone. I have since returned to Ming Tree a second time and had another excellent experience I highly recommend Ming Tree! You can expect excellent service and delicious, hot, fresh food. Enjoy!

Their food is so good, I hesitate to tell people about – dont want crowds to ruin it! No, each meal is always delicious, their specials are always interesting, and you can’t finish all they give you. Beware – their homemade hot mustard will clear out your sinuses! & their General Tso’s chicken still has those small hot peppers most places stopped including.
The wait staff is very attentive – prompt but not pushy.

Visited during a Saturday for dinner time. It was pretty busy but we’re served our food very fast. Portions are a good size and can be easily shared with others in your group. Jesus, our server took really good care of us. Food was good.

I come here every time I visit family. The hot and sour soup is amazing and not hot at all. Ordered the chicken and pepper dish.

An update to comments below…. Ming Tree has recently done some remodeling, which has improved the esthetics and atmosphere. Food is still great, had the Pad Thai Beef for lunch.

We’ve eaten at Ming Tree for many years and it’s come to be a comfort restaurant. The food is consistently good, although service can slow depending on the crowd. The House Chicken has been a long time favorite, but I’ve started trying some of the Thai food as well. Tonight I had the Sweet Basil Chicken. Flavor was great and just enough heat.

It looks like a Chinese restaurant, but it really isn’t. The staff were friendly and all, but it was odd to not see 1 Asian person in the entire place besides myself. I shrugged it off and went ahead and gave the place a solid chance because let’s face it, it’s really all about the food anyways. The prices were not cheap, it was over $15 for a to-go order of Beef and Broccoli with white rice. It must be a big portion for that price. I went ahead and ordered it and waited around and scoped out the rest of the place. Lovely oriental art hanging on the walls, it would appear the restaurant owners must be Chinese. I took a peak into the kitchen through the door window and still saw no Asian people. Let me add that I was raised in a Cantonese restaurant, and I sample Chinese cuisines all around the world during my military travels. But let’s get back to the food. When I received my order, it was a pretty small bag and smelled nothing like any beef and broccoli I’ve ever had before. It didn’t smell Chinese. Needless to saw, it was horrible quality, and it was clear they used alternative ingredients that weren’t Chinese or Thai. They charged an absurd amount for a stingy portioned sized container that they didnt even fill to the top. There was far more veggies than beef, and I’m not a fan of having bamboo chutes included in that dish. This is probably the 2nd worst Chinese restaurant in the world that I’ve eaten at (this small place outside the Vatican in Rome, Italy still holds the title for worst).
