I had a great lunch at Brett’s Casual American — the food was fresh, flavorful, and exactly what I hoped for in a casual spot. The menu has a huge range of American classics, from tasty grilled seafood and hearty sandwiches to crispy appetizers that hit the spot. I’ve heard good things about this place and it was all true. I got a spicey chicken salad and they gave me plenty of chicken, which was nice. My wife got the fish tacos and the garlic aïoli was chef’s kiss. The total bill for the two of us Was only $30. You can’t beat that nowadays. Everybody was very polite. We got checked on by the waitress, the bartender, the manager, I assume the owner, we were never without.

Nice local restaurant and bar. Lots of good reviews, but my Monty Cristo was very dry caused by an huge dry bun. Sweet tots were great as well as my wife’s cheese fries. One orders from the wall menus and pay at the counter. The food is delivered to your table. Friendly service and a nice unpretentious atmosphere. Plenty of parking. I suspect this could be a nice meeting place for locals.

Called in a salad for take out, noticed a “service charge”. I asked what the charge was for, she indicated all take out orders are charged this amount. I was not happy about it and indicated it was either that or a tip. She removed it, I gave 20% tip, checked my account and was charged that service charge on a separate charge. Really? Doesn’t sound legal, I didn’t approve it, doesn’t matter how small the charge, it’s the point. We frequent a lot, will not be back.
