I was the only one in the drive thru, no one in the lobby. They took around 20 minutes to make two tacos. I opened my tacos and was so disappointed. Does Don Chente hate their customers? Probably. There’s way better Mexican food around. Maybe they can shut this place down and put something up that will actually serve decent food. They put my tacos together like a burrito. I didn’t realize we’re free-styling customers meals in the back but okay.

Went through the drive-through had to order at the window, but got great service at the window from the gentleman that walked up and took our order. Took about 10 minutes to get our food. Everything was amazing. We’ll be back soon. And they sold fajitas on the side by the lbs awesome place great prices

As a Michelada connoisseur, I can say they’ve got some of the best in town! Perfect balance, great flavor, and dangerously easy to enjoy. The birria tacos were also quite tasty tender, flavorful, and definitely worth ordering again.

We sat at the bar, and the service was excellent from start to finish. Friendly, attentive, and on point.

Highly recommend!

Fresh ingredients, chips and salsa were below par but the green salsa was great. We had to request replacement chips because first ones came out stale. For the first open weekend they moved people in and out. We did get forgotten for a while. I worked definitely go back for the tacos!

So I got the surf and turf platter with corn tortillas, as well as the dozen stuffed oysters and the tortillas and meat alone were excellent.

The entire menu itself is packed with an overload of various Mexican staples, which I definitely want to try next time I come down this way.

And the horchata to drink???

I’d literally drink it till I was beyond sick if I could.

The entire restaurant itself was VERY clean and “professional” as well. Pricing was understandable with today’s economy, and the service was VERY quick (it wasn’t more than 15 minutes from the time I ordered that the food was out, so no waiting for hours on end like some places)

So by all means, if you’re looking for a tucked away restaurant that is sure to not miss, come on down here and get some of the best authentic Mexican food you’ll taste.

Very nice service from the man at the window! Coming from San Antonio, I’m so happy to have a traditional TexMex place where you can drive through and get good food without all the funny names and extra flare that adds no value. Beans and rice are plain Jane as they should be – put the hot sauce on and wow! Mucho caliente, but great flavor! Hope they stay around for a while!

Sweet employees! Very helpful. I have gone through the drive through many times close to closing time and they are always the sweetest and willing to help. Very accommodating. Love the breakfast tacos (served all day) as well as the strawberry margaritas!

Have gone to Don Chente in CSTAT 2x and still not good. First time we went about a week after they opened. Ordered the wet burrito with Barbocoa and NO Cilantro. Server had a smile but didn’t really know the menu well. Plate comes out with Cilantro on top of the burrito so I told the server no big deal, scrapped it off the top. I cut into the burrito to find grilled chicken. Waitress comes over and I show her the chicken, she appoligizes and takes it back to be remade with barbocoa. Took a while and my wife was already done when I got my plate. They did comp it so I understood, new restaurant so working through the kinks.

Fast forward to second time- last night, and it’s gotten worse, not better. The food quality overall is pretty mediocre. Server still didn’t know the food or the menu. The sad part is the lack of care from the servers and management. The servers are not trained on how to serve and wait on customers. They need a better systems and processes. The Iced tea had a weird flavor, almost like the tea urn isn’t being cleaned properly each day. My tacos and daughters quesadillas were not too bad, but rice and beans were cold, the shreaded cheese wouldn’t even melt. My wife got the beef encilada plate and it was reminiscent of a frozen dinner. There’s no love or passion in the food. My 4 day old enchiladas are better than what they are serving. I asked someone who appeared to be a manger if we could get some hot rice and beans for me and my wifes plate. They said yes, and would bring another plate hot plate. Waited for over 10 minutes to get this plate and we were done eating our entrees. Bad thing is it was the same cold temperature as the others. When I told the manager she didn’t seem to care, just gave me the Toast system to pay. They have a microwave in plain view but it was never used for the rice and beans. I typically don’t like restaurants that use a microwave but for this instance it would have been fine.

Consider having the TV’s on different sports channels instead of just showing us Hispanic music videos on all 10 TV’s.

We were really excited to have a neighborhood little Tex-Mex restaurant and hopeful that it would be good and we could have something close and convenient. The problem here is that the owners spent all this money to take over a second gen restaurant, but are not staffed with the right leadership or servers that are trained to care about the customers food or service. So many new restaurants make the mistake of opening and not taking care of customers that want to come spend money in their restaurant and then wonder why they can’t make it later on. If you don’t get things turned around soon, before everyone tries Don Chente, you’ll end up like Taco Casa and the previos Bahama Bucks. You don’t get a second chance to make a first impression! It so hard to attract a customer but it easy to lose them! I hope ownership realizes this before it’s too late.

I was really excited to try this new Mexican restaurant and had high hopes, but unfortunately it was a big letdown. We ordered through the window and there were a few mix-ups with our order. The birria and barbacoa tacos were just okay, but everything else: the hamburger, carne asada, chicken quesadillas, beans, and rice were honestly pretty bad. Most of it was either way too salty, charred, or super greasy. My husband and kids barely touched their food because it just wasn’t edible. To top it off, I found a long black hair in my birria taco plate, which was the final straw. Really disappointed because I wanted to love this place.
