Silent Storm
I decided to try China Kitchen in Forest Acres after hearing a lot of back and forth about which restaurants were better. I’ve already been to the other place, so I wanted to see how this one compared.
Ordering here is a bit different ; you order behind glass, talking through microphones, with food box to receive your food. It’s not very personal, but I did notice they have returning customers, so clearly some people really like it.
I ordered two entrées: 7-piece garlic pepper wings and bourbon chicken, both with fried rice and sweet tea. It only took about 10 minutes, and when I got home 20 minutes later, the food was still hot.
The bourbon chicken was disappointing ; it tasted and even looked more like sweet and sour chicken, not bourbon. I’m not sure if my order got mixed up, but I know what bourbon chicken is supposed to be, and this wasn’t it. The garlic pepper wings had plenty of pepper but almost no garlic and were lacking flavor overall. The fried rice was decent, especially after adding soy sauce, and the sweet tea was exactly what I expected , I really enjoyed that.
Overall, I’m giving it 3 stars. It was better than the last place I tried, but the food missed the mark for me. In Columbia, it’s been hit or miss, and this was a miss. Unfortunately, I feel like I wasted both food and money.

Very good Chinese spot to got to. Good bbq chicken wings with shrimp fried rice. I love the sauce they use. We also had GenToso chicken which was sweet and tangy at the same time. The lo mein was good with the chicken too. Go give these food a try. I love the customer service. The lady is very friendly which I believe is the owner.

All I can say is hubby & I was ready to enjoy a good meal after not eating all day. We had pepper steak with fried rice. The steak was nothing like steak. We was afraid to eat it, as we wasn’t sure what type of meat it was. Also taste wasn’t pleasing at all. I ordered shrimp egg fu young with broccoli added. My broccoli was spoiled. WHAT A BUMMER MEAL. $36.00 in the trash. These are not the same people cooking in this restaurant. This used to be to be one of the best Chinese Restaurants in Columbia. NEVER AGAIN!!

Did a quick pick up for lunch. Called my order in. The food was ready by the time I got there. Staff was friendly. My only issue with this restaurant has always ever been their parking lot. It is a tight squeeze. I needed to get back to work fast but I was blocked in by a delivery truck. For a popular spot, I wish the accessibility of parking was better.

This is the Second Chinese Restaurant I have been to since I moved here in Columbia and this place has really great food. Just omg the food smells really good. We found out about this place because we do DoorDash and Uber Eats so when we picked up their order and I smelled how good it was I said to myself I have to come back here and try it. I’m glad I did because the food was delicious. I got so much I couldn’t eat it all

The food is good, but the attitude with the staff isn’t! She even gets your order wrong over the phone and say that’s what you said when you get there!

The lobby is nasty there was a old plate on the table looks like it was there a for a week. The rice was not fresh. Tasted like it was warmed up in the microwave. The wings were fried extremely hard ( not by request). The girl did not want to give me a spoon because she already put a fork in the bag. They do give plenty of shrimp in the shrimp fried rice. The lemonade was good. That’s what the one star is from. I will not eat here again. There is a China kitchen in Orangeburg Sc that will run this China kitchen out of business.

I went here last night and ate in the lobby. This is a no-frills place—the Chinese classics you’re craving. Opted for the General Tso’s and a pork egg roll. Both were steaming hot and super fresh. Much better than the average Chinese place in Columbia. I will definitely be coming here the next time I crave some Chinese-American classics. 10/10–give it a try if you haven’t already
