Loved the atmosphere! The food was amazing!! The batter on the fish was so good. The fried pickles were delicious as well. Highly recommend and will return.

Stopped in for lunch, had grilled grouper, with onion rings and a salad. Had fried mushrooms for an appetizer, they were outstanding! Grouper grilled to delicious perfection! Can’t go wrong at Ebel’s. But, miss the fried green tomatoes.

Ridiculously good from the welcoming service to the last morsel of food! My wife and I started with the pretzel and beer cheese appetizer. Let me tell you – those house made pretzels were a surprise. How can something that sounds so simple be so good? They were so crispy on the outside and so soft on the inside. Perfectly paired with their bacon-topped beer cheese, this appetizer easily makes our top-five list. For my main course I had the Caribbean grouper with mashed potatoes, broccoli, and rice pilaf. She had the Bourbon-glazed salmon with a loaded baked potato, broccoli, and rice pilaf. Let me start by adding that both meals came with two hush puppies. I typically don’t like hush puppies, but these hushpuppies, made with cornmeal and corn, fall somewhere between a traditional hush puppy and a corn nugget, and they are absolutely delicious. As far as the meals, my wife agreed this was one of the most perfect meals we’d ever had. Everything was perfect – all the way from how the fish was prepared and cooked to the presentation and all around flavor of each and every item. 10/10. Tell all your friends. This is a restaurant you shouldn’t pass by.

P.S., If you’re looking for a nice little date night, the atmosphere of Ebel’s Tavern is perfect.

I went here Saturday with a friend. My friend and I ordered the pork dumplings and pretzels and beer cheese. I wasn’t a fan of the dumplings but my friend enjoyed them. The pretzels were delicious. The bread had great flavor and the cheese was creamy and yummy.

I ordered the chicken sandwich with broccoli. The broccoli was roasted and it was really good. It was crisp and flavorful.

The bread of the sandwich was very good.

However, the chicken was very rubbery, and no flavor and the pickles tastes like they were dumped in chemicals.

I had to send it back because it was inedible.

My friend ordered the patty melt and she said it was really good.

She also ordered hush puppies and she was not a fan. I tried a bite also and was confused because they had corn in them. They were pretty much burnt and had no flavor.

The manager was nice and took it off my bill but we probably won’t be back.

We went across the street to get ice cream and was told many people have come in complaining about the food at Ebels.

Update 3/6/21 Lunch again! We had the grouper sandwich, salmon salad, cheese curds and scallops. Everything was delicious AGAIN!
Update: Stopped for lunch 12/26 on our way to a weekend stay at Wildwood Resort (a must-try) and it was just as great as the first time! I’m glad to see their fight to survive during the crazy pandemic!
This place is so very worth the drive! We left Granville and stopped here for lunch. We started with the scallops. They were seared, tender and buttery. We shared the ribeye and grouper with sides of seared broccoli (I could have eaten a while bowl) and the asparagus. We loved everything! We topped it off with their version of carrot cake. We had no complaints or recommendations!
This is a small place with a lot of character. They host activities most every night–trivia, poker, etc. Fun spot with really great food!

Cool little place, it definitely fits the “tavern” vibes with the brick aesthetic on the inside. Came in with a family of 7 people, being sat wasn’t a problem as the place does seem relatively small. Live music was going on as well so we thought that was pretty cool. I understand that they have 1 chef working but it took almost an hour for our food to be brought to us, and some people were left waiting while others ate. Great place to bring someone for a date, but I’d take a group elsewhere.

I used to love coming here but now they nickle and dime you for everything. When I came in there were no other customers, the waitress asked if I had a reservation and I said no, do I need one and I was told it’s recommended, as if I was a bother. There’s literally NO ONE IN HERE BUT ME. So I order so I can give them back this tiny table she sat me at “in case” someone came in and needed a bigger table, like there aren’t any EMPTY. Now there are other customers coming in , 3 tables have customers and it’s now 4:58 pm on a Friday. The menu clearly states on the sandwiches and baskets part, that you get a choice of a side with ALL of them but when I order the “Fish and Chips” which is what the menu says is the MEAL, I asked for side salad to be my “side” and she tells me the “chips” are the side and if I want a side salad I have to pay extra. This is Carthage, not downtown Nashville. Be good to your patrons, all of us, and we will be good to you, but treat me as if I’m a bother and I won’t bother spending my hard earned money in your mediocre restaurant, ever again. 2 small pieces of fried fish, less fries than a kids meal at McDonald’s and that cost $15, $3 for the tiny salad that should have been the side. I won’t be back. And now that I’m gone and not trying to take up they’re space and time, she dbl charged me for the side salad, and one of them was $5 instead of $3 AND $0.25 for a small dollop of ranch dressing, DEFINITELY WONT BE BACK

Bar food but on a different level. Food is really good and staff is awesome! Small indoors and they do have small out door seating.

We were tipped of to Ebel’s tavern by a friend we were visiting in the area. We had no ideal what to expect but we were pleasantly blown away by this awesome little tavern. There are poker tables set up and both tables we full of players! I’ll have to come back when I can get a game of poker in. The fish and chips were excellent as you might imagine from a place like this. I’m so glad that we made the stop!

I had a great time having lunch here! Service was fantastic and friendly, bartender made a *perfect* drink, and the food was absolute perfection. Idk if the tartar sauce was homemade, but either way it’s very good! I’ll definitely be back to try other stuff.
