The server was very good before our meal arrived. She never came back to check on us. The food was absolutely disgusting. The green beans.. opened the can and warmed up, Very bland. The salad was just chunks of lettuce and one grape tomato, not even cheese. The hamburger steak was tough and overdone. The chicken salad had a long hair stuck to the lettuce. We had to go up and ask for to go boxes. Hopefully, our dogs will enjoy all the leftover food. Needless to say, we will not be back.

Kirby’s has been around for probably 30 years now and I’ve eaten here probably 5-6 years over the years including recently. This is a good little restaurant on 6th street in the old downtown area, opening hours are 8am to 8pm. Menu features a typical range of local diner affair in Oklahoma.
During this recent lunch I had their chicken fried chicken with okra and salad. Food was ready in around 10 minutes and tasted really good. Chicken was nicely seasoned and battered. Just the right amount of crispy on the outside, soft and tender on the inside. Service was super friendly and prices what you expect of local diners across the state. Kirby’s is a good little place, worth trying in Okmulgee.

My wife and I both had the chicken fried steak, it came with a salad, mashed potatoes and gravy, a roll and a vegetable. The meat was like a real chicken fry, not some super tenderized chunk of something that resembles meat. The service was very good and the place was clean. I would request a little more gravy though. I think it was only around $8 each. Super reasonable prices.

I stopped into Okmulgee and tried a home town restaurant. The piping free flowing coffee is perfect with the pie. The luncheon plate came with fresh mashed potatoes and a grilled chicken breast. Stop in and be welcomed with home town lovin’.
