We then ordered Saag Paneer, Butter chicken, another chicken dish that I can’t remember the name, but it had a sautéed onion sauce and a nice easy burn, chicken Biryani, a Kingfisher beer (imported from India) and a housemade dessert called Bebinca, an Indian, coconut flan type layer cake. Delicious.
And most importantly, if you are lucky enough to have Ammy as your server, ask him to get you a complimentary shot of Ginja
Him and this restaurant is fantastic
Without a doubt, the best Indian restaurant in Lisbon! Gandhi Palace in Bairro Alto is truly a hidden gem. The food is absolutely authentic and full of flavor. The lamb tikka masala with garlic naan was outstanding — the lamb was incredibly tender and the sauce was rich, creamy, and perfectly spiced. The garlic naan was fresh, soft, and full of flavor.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the service was excellent. If you’re in Lisbon and craving real Indian food, this place is a must-visit. Highly recommended!
We had Lamb Bhuna and Navratan Korma which wasn’t meant to be shared because of distinct choices but we both ended up eating both 🙂
It was finger-licking good!!
The service is very good, amiable people, and nice ambiance. We will return back! Highly recommended.
Dishes tried:
Chicken Tikka Masala – Overall ok, but wasn’t impressed with the actual chicken pieces.
Paneer Jalfrezi – Really nice and tangy, bursting with flavour!
Garlic Naan – Ok, although could be a bit more lighter and crispier
Overall, it’s a good place to try out.
The food is incredibly authentic, with flavors that truly capture the heart of Indian cuisine. Every dish is rich, aromatic, and beautifully balanced with spices that make each bite memorable. One of the things we loved most is the wide variety of vegetarian options, making it easy for anyone to find something delicious no matter their preference.
What really made the experience stand out, though, was the service. Our server, Ammay, was absolutely amazing. He was friendly, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. He took the time to explain different dishes, share insights about the flavors and spices, and helped us choose meals that we ended up loving every time.
If you’re visiting Lisbon and looking for something different from traditional Portuguese food, Gandhi Palace is definitely worth a visit. Between the authentic flavors and the outstanding service, it’s a place that leaves a lasting impression.
