Atmosphere was good and quiet. There was no wait and our waitress was very attentive. Very happy overall! The food was tasty and authentic according to my partner (who has lived in Thailand). The only downside to our visit was that both meals were VERY heavy on sodium taste. That was very evident with each bite. I still recommend trying the food and beverages, however! Kudos to the establishment

My husband and I have gone to Waldo Thai about 3 times a month since they reopened. We have made it our quest to try a different appetizer and entrees each time we go & we have not been disappointed! We always leave with some leftovers because we love to try their desserts as well. The bar drinks are inventive & delicious as well, and the staff is friendly & accommodating. I remembered to take a picture this time so I thought I would share. Enjoy!

Good service. Small parking lot out back. Small bar up front. We had the small cucumber salad, extra sweet Thai tea, masaman curry, and the crab egg omelet.

Waldo Thai never misses! The food is absolutely delicious—bold, fresh, and comforting in every bite. Some people seem to think things have changed, but trust me, the food is still just as amazing as ever.

And can we talk about the drinks? They’re dangerously good (and way too easy to order “just one more”). Marcus, the manager, ties it all together with his charm and attention—he’s as much a part of the experience as the food itself. Waldo Thai continues to be one of the best dining spots in KC.

My husband and I went without a reservation and we were still able to be seated with our options being the bar or the patio so we opted for patio since it was nice outside. As always the food is delicious, staff is friendly and helpful, and it’s a bit pricey but we love coming here every other month.

Although the food was delicious especially the pork belly and the laab, it was pretty expensive. The pad thai and the scallion cake was decent. The cocktail that I got with rum and coconut was alright but also pretty pricey. At least it was nicely decorated in the inside and gives off a modernized feeling. Overall, this restaurant is worth trying at least once despite the price.

This is not your average, run-of-the-mill pad Thai and potstickers place. The menu here is much more upscale and thus much more interesting. They’ve put a great deal of thought into flavor and texture combinations, so everything I tried was absolutely delicious.

The cocktail menu is also impressive. On the recommendation of my dining companion, I tried the Mekong River. It really was as remarkable as she said it would be. I was going to try one of the seasonal drinks with the entree, but they were out of the ingredients for it. Still, it didn’t exactly hurt my feelings to have a second Mekong River.

I think I may have caught Waldo Thai on an off day. In addition to the drink issue, the air conditioner in the dining area wasn’t keeping pace with the heat outside. The warmth and the crowd made things a little stifling. And the parking was limited, with most of the nearby spots apparently reserved for the Jimmy John’s next door.

But the food, drinks and service were more than worth some minor inconveniences.

Wow! Waldo Thai is the best restaurant I’ve been to in over 5 years. I’m a good cook and most places don’t “wow” me but they sure did. The food was absolutely top notch, flavorful, balanced. The service was good, the employees were prompt and very nice. It’s not your traditional Thai place with all the usually dishes but don’t let that keep you away!

The food here is amazing – packed with flavor. The portions were large and filling. One entree was big enough to share. Our waiter was knowledgeable on the menu and was really informative. Will definitely be coming back here. I ate here once a long time ago and had this delicious pineapple/chicken dish and that’s what brought me back. Adding this to my list of places to visit regularly.

My husband and I were so excited to try Waldo Thai, but I was disappointed. The food is decent, but the staff made us feel like we were an inconvenience. We arrived right when they opened at 4:30p. The host immediately asked if we had a reservation and looked at us like we were crazy that we didn’t, which I found odd since the place was completely empty. It remained fairly empty while we dined. He sat us at a bar table, which was not a problem, but the judgment wasn’t warranted – we told him this was our first time and we were excited, yet there was ZERO attempt to make us feel welcome. In fact, it was the exact opposite.

I ordered a vegetarian curry which was mediocre at best, but I asked for it spicy. The waitress immediately said “we don’t make any modifications to any of our dishes” instead of politely saying “oh, we prefer to let our guests add the spice level they like.” She brought me some spices to add but nothing reminiscent of my preference, even when I added EVERYTHING she brought.

Not worth a $70 tab.

I might be willing to give it another shot, but please don’t treat your guests like we are a bother. I’ve had much better experiences elsewhere in KC.
