Most underrated spot in Big Bear. Loved them before they moved to the waterfront. Had the best orange chicken of my liiiiife. Hubs has the steak fajitas and they were fire. Great happy hour and drink selection. Can’t wait to go here in the summer for the patio. The outside of the spot isn’t fancy but don’t let that fool you.

WORTH THE SEARCH.
Santana Mavericks is a family-friendly restaurant overlooking Big Bear Lake. It serves a wide variety of food and what we had for lunch was delicious.
I had the tuna melt sandwich and the other members of our party had the chicken cashew salad and the BLT. The food was served promptly and well-presented. My sandwich was large and not overly saucy with large chunks of tuna. The bread was perfectly toasted. The salad was large with sliced, roasted chicken on the top. Note: Gluten-free bread IS available for sandwiches.
The restaurant is basic and attractive. Plenty of parking right outside the door with TWO on-site overflow lots. If the weather is nice, there’s a pretty deck with gorgeous lakefront views. Full bar. Great service – very nice staff. Plenty of room for kids. If you’re tired and want a good place to eat, I would heavily recommend.

Beautiful restaurant with a beautiful lake view. Lovely outdoor patio and very nice interior as well. We had the shrimp cocktail shooters, which were absolutely divine. Very fresh and flavorful. Then we had the blossomed onion, which was crispy and delicious with a lovely aïoli side sauce. Then we had the Asian sampler platterand the spring rolls were the best. Lovely experience highly recommend!

Our first complaint is regarding the steaks. 3 of us ordered the filet mignons. The steaks looked perfectly cooked medium rare. However, we all thought they were extremely tough which we don’t understand how a filet can be cooked perfectly and be tough. It’s the most tender steak you can buy. We didn’t send them back because they were only listed for $45 a piece and came with all the sides and realized that this restaurant isn’t a steak house and it’s not their specialty. Second complaint, when we got our check the prices of everything was way more expensive than listed in the menu. I asked the waitress what she charged for the filets and she said $65 a piece. That’s steak house prices. We would not have ordered them at that price. I explained to her that on their gluten free menu which we ordered off of said the steaks were only $45. She said it’s an old menu. I explained to her that is considered a “bait and switch” and it’s illegal to charge someone a price that is not listed on the menu. After complaining to the manager they honored the $45 price. Third complaint, this restaurant charges you 4% of your entire bill to use a credit card. I explained to the waitress when we arrived that this was our first time in the restaurant and there was no warning. The waitress said that there was a sign on the front door and that it was listed on the menu as well. Who is looking for small hand written paper signs on the front door of restaurants that warn you about using a credit card. The only thing we are looking to read on a menu is what the food selections are. The only places that I’ve ever come across that charge for using a credit card are gas stations and it is usually just a small fee, not a percentage of whatever you’re buying. The place has great views, but it is an obvious tourist trap attempting to use illegal tactics. Run from this place! We will never return! We will warn everyone not to go here!

Was looking for lunch with a view of the lake. This place was mentioned at the visitor center, so we gave it a try. Must have been a very slow day, no wait to be seated at all. Server did not state her name and had to flag her down twice to refill our drinks. We ordered the Onion Blossom, Meatball Sandwich with a side of fries, Chicken Parmesean with soup of the day and the Maverick Club sandwich with fries. The food was average, did not blow us away but gotta say that their Tomato Basil soup of the day was delicious. Encredibly thick and flavorful. The view of the lake was nice.. I presume that was why the bill was pricey.

If you’re looking to get married, or a venue for a large gathering I would recommend Santana Mavericks 1000%!! We just had our wedding here on the 19th. Susana, and her team outdid themselves. They took care of all of the decor, set up, food, and clean up. They completely exceeded our expectations, and made the day incredibly special for us. The views are incredible, and the atmosphere was so romantic. We had the most amazing wedding day, and I can’t thank Santana Mavericks and the staff enough. The food was incredible, and all of our friends and family had the best time.

Went here with a group of 9 and we split checks, drinks were okay, seemed like they were lacking in alcohol. Food was decent but nothing to write home about. They have a wide variety but the portions were small for the price. Our waitress was very nice and the view is great. Someone on the staff seemed to have their kid with them at work who was running around which was a bit unprofessional. Try to avoid paying with a card also. They charge 4% for cards and a 10% discount for cash, but the way it all adds up is wild. Ended up paying an additional $27.22 just to use my card, on top of the REQUIRED 18% ($32.40) tip, which I understand usually applies to larger groups but it wasn’t mentioned anywhere. Their ATM was out of order too so there’s that. Just be aware. I will give them another shot and bring cash next time. EDIT: I see some reviews saying the portions are good sizes which could be true if you’re 50+. My friends and I are in our 30s and nobody had leftovers

So we almost didn’t come here for breakfast since google said they opened at 11:00 am. They actually open at 7:00am for breakfast. The waitress/server was very nice and polite I didn’t get her name(Server ID:15). The food portion for the price was great. I think my husband and I could have both eaten from one order that’s how much food you get. We sat on the patio and the view of the lake across the street was beautiful. There is plenty of seating inside and outside. They even have blankets for when it’s cold out. They only things I didn’t like was the my meat was a little over cooked and my eggs should have been over medium and one egg had no yolk. And for my husband is home fries were a little under cooked. I would still recommend you try this restaurant if you are in the area.

Very lovely dinner pn patio. The Latin inspired scallops were excellent. A large portion of good size scallops cooked perfectly served with fresh tortillas (both corn and flour available) black beans and Mexican rice. Great emphasis placed on the quality of the main dishes and our plates weren’t just filled with rice and beans. My companions enjoyed veggie fajitas and the cilantro salmon. Both dishes were very good. We all had plenty for leftovers for next day.

My honest review. The location was great, good ambience. Service was ok, but the food was sub par, and overpriced. The ribeye dinner was ok at best, but definitely not worth the market value, which turned out to be $55/plate. I think $30 would have been more of a decent price. The steak itself had a good taste and was decent, but it was thin cut with no bone. The baked potato was small and it was horrible. it was cold and tasted like it was sitting out for awhile, and the sour cream had a funny smell to it…the butter they gave me would not melt. The also give you a couple of cooked carrot sticks, three small broccoli pieces and some bread. It also came with a small salad with watered down ranch dressing. If you decide to eat here, just a heads up…use cash, because they charge you 33% for using a credit card and I ended up paying almost $30 more for using my card. I give this place a 2 out of 5. I will not go back to this restaurant ever again because I felt like I got ripped off. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. There’s better places in Big Bear to eat at without breaking the bank by simply using your credit/debit card.
