However, it took about 10 minutes for our waitress to take our drink order, which only happened after I asked the hostess who our waitress was supposed to be. This would have been understandable if the restaurant had been busy, but it wasn’t crowded at all.
On a positive note, the food came out fairly quickly. The yogurt parfait was okay, but for $18, I wouldn’t order it again. I also tried the breakfast sandwich on a croissant and honestly didn’t like it. However, the cheesy grits were delicious!
Chef came out at one point and grabbed some herbs they grow on the patio for his dishes. Patio is dog friendly.
We got the turkey club (pretty good but I’d argue I make a better one at home). Fries were yummy. Salmon salad was very good and salmon was cooked nicely.
Solid 3-3.5 star quality dishes (out of a possible 5), arguably a bit overpriced.
The Mixed Berry Parfait had enough berries to summon woodland creatures from the hedges, while the Crab & Avocado Toast whispered sweet nothings of sea and citrus… before getting slapped in the face with ricotta and aioli like it owed someone rent.
And let’s talk about the breakfast potatoes—sorry, “house-made bistro frites.” I bit into one and genuinely thought it was a prop from a vintage diner. I’ve had firmer cushions on my grandmother’s porch swing. Someone get those fries a hydration plan.
On the sweet side, the Pain Perdu (aka French toast with a superiority complex) came dressed for brunch like it was the lead in Les Misérables. It had whipped cream, maple syrup, and enough Grand Marnier to make me forget I was still waiting for a refill on my coffee.
Everything is either sweet enough to send you to confession or salty enough to preserve a ham. Honestly, I respect the dedication. Would I come back? Probably. I like chaos in a brunch menu.
Left Bank Bistro: where your taste buds ride a unicycle on a tightrope of flavor. Vive la confusion!
Edit: finally made it here for brunch. It’s just as good as their dinner menu, if not better!
Holy moly the food and drinks here are amazing! Strongly recommend the espresso martini! The burger is fantastic. Actually, just get everything. It’s all great. But also, the music, ambiance, and service are all wonderful as well. You won’t regret coming here!
Overall, the food was delicious! Loved the latte made with Kahwa beans.
Dec. 2024 – Have to adjust my review a bit. I’ve been back several times since the first time. I think it’s still one of my favorite places, but the service has deteriorated. I see new wait staff every time I go back. They tend to be inexperienced, which means waiting too long to have water refilled or drinks brought to the table. They’re also not as happy or pleasant. I took some friends around the holidays, and our food orders were messed up. Our waiter was a young guy who didn’t crack a smile once. I was embarrassed. I hope things change for the better.
Two big concerns were there’s no traditional classic french entrees served at lunch, bouillabaisse comes to mind.
Server was dissatisfying too, indifferent and inattentive. I expect in such a pricy place the wait staff would be sensitive to timing, ready to offer more wine before your glass goes dry for example. Same with bread. That’s been my experience in comparable restaurants here as well as even small restaurants in France. It’s part of the experience the French honor the food. The superior experience justifies the superior price.
