After passing by this establishment so many times we finally got the opportunity to stop for lunch and as a bonus pickup dinner at the same time. My only regret was not ordering a draft beer to go with my sandwich which was outstanding. I didn’t see the 7 taps which were located in their own cooler next to the cooler containing the can and bottle beer selections. There are other drinks like water, fountain drinks, or sweet and unsweet tea as well. This is like a mini grocery store with one stop shopping all in one place. However, if you are not paying attention, you can literally drive right by and not even notice it. I look forward to returning here for lunch and pairing it with a draft beer and picking up other items for dinner.

Mr P’s was amazing! I’ve heard about this place for years, but never had a chance to visit.
The staff was super friendly and helpful. The selection was awesome. The food was bucket-list worthy! I almost didn’t snap the picture before i demolished this beautiful samdwich!
I’ll definitely return for more!

Today I had the Tide sandwich- roast beef and cheddar on a Kaiser roll. Also added some Pilieterris barbecue sauce that’s provided at the counter. It was delicious. What reduces the food experience from 5 stars to 4 is that the meat was heated up in a microwave. The result was hot edges and a cold center. That just takes away from the experience.

Homey butcher shop and deli that also sells a number of their own sauces, rubs, & spice mixes. Went for lunch on a Saturday, and was fairly busy. You could tell it’s a regular spot for locals, and the service was friendly and fast.
There are a ton of sandwich options, and many are fairly similar. It is also not clear which are hot and which are cold. Ordered a meatball sub and a Goldenberg sandwich. They were okay, but not really anything special. The sandwich was piled so high with deli chicken that the outside was hot and the middle was cold. “Cajun” appears to mean they just sprinkle a spice mix over it during assembly, nothing to do with the meat itself.

Mr. P’s is an institution. They have high quality meats, amazing sandwiches, beer, wine, and so much more. We love to go get a sandwich combo and a sweet treat. Be sure to check out their orange chocolate chip ricotta cookies for the holidays, they are amazing!
We love this place.

Best Sandwiches I’ve ever had, and I eat out a lot. The people are great and they have their own line of seasonings and sauces. They also sell good bulk meat.

Been coming here for many years and we’ve known Mr. P from our first visit when he still worked full time. Very nice family. Always great sandwiches, frozen food (made by them), and full service butchershop. Many grocery items including Mr. P’s line of sauces and seasonings. I highly recommend Mr. P’s original marinade, great value for the money, and his bold and spicy original marinade dry seasoning. Also try the cajun style seasoning! You can’t go wrong here. I don’t know how things are now, but we live a few hundred miles away, we just called Mr P and told him what we wanted and he would send it. Give them a try!

Mr. P’s Butcher Shop & Deli, a Birmingham staple since 1975, is renowned for its hearty sandwiches, house-made meats, and flavorful seasonings. Located at 813 Shades Crest Road in Hoover, Alabama, this family-owned establishment offers a diverse menu of deli sandwiches, including the popular Muffaletta, and a variety of meats and cheeses. The deli is open Tuesday through Saturday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with sandwiches served in-house from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM and available to-go until closing.
