Stopped in the Windmill Cafe for lunch, it’s right on the square in Pella. It’s a nice little cafe with friendly and helpful staff. They have daily specials and serve breakfast all day. I wanted to try something I haven’t tried before so I ordered the Hot Pork Tenderloin sandwich. It’s similar to a Hot Roast Beef. It has mashed potatoes, a piece of white bread with the breaded tenderloin on top, and covered in brown gravy. The food was delicious and the prices are very reasonable for the quantity and quality of food you get. Will definitely be back to try the breakfast menu.

This place is always a treat for breakfast! The servers are super friendly, and they have a fantastic selection of options. Plus, they’re open early on weekdays and even open at 8 on Sundays! You absolutely have to check it out!

The food was overall quite good. The burger with fries was especially tasty — juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right The Philly cheesesteak sandwich was also good, although it felt a little bit dry. One small downside was the coffee, which didn’t taste the best, but the staff were very attentive and quickly refilled it without any delay ☕
Overall, the friendly service and pleasant atmosphere made the visit enjoyable, and I would happily come back again

At the Windmill Cafe, I ordered the Hot Roast Beef sandwich. It was a delicious blast from the past. I used to have a similar dish at my aunt and uncle’s cafe a half century ago. My meal was so good that I started eating before I thought to take a photo.

Solid breakfast, everything you want it to be but better. It tasted more like a home cooked breakfast at Grandma’s house vs a typical diner or greasy spoon. The sourdough seemed fresh baked, the hash browns were perfectly cooked, and the eggs & bacon were the stars. Everyone working was extra friendly and patient with tourists during the busy tulip festival. Thank you!

Great service and attractive dining area. Our food was good. Burger and fries were great. Philly cheese steak sandwich, good but a little dry. The coffee didn’t taste that great, but it was promptly refilled.
It was packed during Saturday lunch when we were there. No delays, but it was a little loud and hard to talk.

Hot, satisfying breakfast that was delicious! The eggs cooked perfectly, the pancakes were tender and the omelet was cooked to perfection along with the cheese on top. Be sure to have the pie! Delicious! Give this place a try.
