The food here is delicious! Friendly staff but short interactions. Not a long wait time and the portions are more than enough for 2 on a serving. Flavor is phenomenal and the choices were plenty. Will be back.

I ordered the “Aguachiles” which was $27, yes,
TWENTY SEVEN DOLLARS.
Usually aguachiles comes with shrimp but this place must be VEGAN because the shrimp was NOT in the room with us…so basically they charged me $27 for a cucumber soup.
Like if y’all need the $20 just ask but I was not born yesterday and the little TOP RAMEN shrimp y’all put in there does not justify $27. I will not be returning, if you’re looking for aguachile or anything worth your money in Modesto, I suggest Guayabitos or culichi.
I’m willing to pay a $100+ tip at culichi and get exactly what I expect. Than $70 here and get shrimp they took out of a top ramen cup.
Two people came up to ask if everything was okay and they both did not even care. The older lady said she would tell them… who? Because you telling anyone will not give me my time and $$ back lady. Be for REALLSSS. First red flag was the half empty chip basket.

I was feverishly looking through the myriad of Mexican food options in Modesto, trying to find authentic Mexican. There were so many options that had really good reviews. (4.4 stars or better) so I was worried that I might make the wrong choice, and go somewhere that either wasn’t authentic, or just wasn’t good. Boy, did I make the right choice. Mariscos y Taqueria El Capitan is as authentic as you can get, and the food is amazing. They have a full sauce/salsa bar with limes (necessity) The place was super busy but the staff was working hard and were all over it! I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for authentic Mexican food in Modesto. This place is it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The owner helped us and made sure we were well taken care of, definitely would love to come by again, we’re only in the area for a business trip. For this restaurant, we’ll definitely make a two hour trip for. The food was great, I had a Mojarra and it was extremely juicy and full, other places usually get frail fishes but this one was great!

We saw it had good reviews, I was craving Mexican shrimp. No pun intended, anyway everything looks good in the pictures so I decided to order the Cielito mar y Tierra sushi. It was over kill as soon as I saw how much it was and they put hella crab on top it kind of turned me off it didn’t look like sushi but I tried it. One bite full of cream cheese way too much cream cheese not enough meat or shrimp. So my bf offered to swap plates and I ate his asada fries- they were mid. When I tell u I was so disappointed..especially because I was starving and craving sum fire the waitress was nice and the horchata was good tho
