So when news of her dismissal surfaced, it landed like a cold plate where a hot dish was promised. The reasoning? Still vague. But the impact? Sharply felt. Shannon’s departure didn’t just clear a shift slot—it hollowed the hospitality.
Whether it was her gracious handling of chaotic brunch rushes or the handwritten thank-you notes slipped to customers who’d had a rough week, Shannon practiced customer care as an art form. To lose her is to lose a little bit of the soul this place once had.
If management was hoping guests wouldn’t notice, they were mistaken. We will notice. And we’ll miss her!
Old review:
My breakfast at Perkins was a delightful start to the day. The menu offered a fantastic variety of morning favorites, each prepared to perfection. I enjoyed the steak and eggs skillet (prepared by Sherry to perfection), which was both delicious and beautifully presented. On occasion me and my pal, Dan enjoy some oatmeal for a light breakfast. Our favorite server, Shannon is always friendly and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable. Give Shannon a raise! She’s the best and makes us want to come back! Highly recommend!
Food was good.
Also my husband LOVED the bbq burger, HIGHLY reccomend!
Ps. Samantha, thank you again for absolutely making our meal and experience absolutely amazing, we drove 12 hours from MI for a book signing and the only food we had had was car snacks.
But ,will keep you posted
Update:
We went back and the service was extraordinary. Seated right away and ordered within minutes.
Below is the pictures of our luner.
It was very good and hope you all help check it out when you’re in the area.
First person we are faced with is the cook headed out the front door with his vape in hand, “Ya’ll know we close at 9, right?” Where I tel him, “Yes, I do, we just got out of karate, thanks.”
We stand there for a few moments inside, before a tall skinny woman greets us, “You know we close in 15 minutes, right?” Where I proceed to tell her, “You close in half an hour, it’s only 8:30.” She giggles and said, “Oh, I must have lost track of time, how many of you are there?” I told her, “4.” We are seated. Then she tells us, “I’m out of meatloaf and pork chops. Can I get you started on drinks?”
Then ANOTHER waitress comes over. She was the ONLY one with any courtesy and manners. Greeted us properly.
We pretty much knew what we wanted before we came in. WE FREQUENT HERE REGULARLY. (How do you think I knew who the cook was walking out while we walked in? ) So, when our drinks arrived, we placed our 4 orders and 1 to go order.
The thing that sucked while waiting the 20 minutes for our food in the empty restaurant was this;
1. No one came back to check on our drinks and 2 people had been finished with theirs
2. No one was even in eye sight to flag them down because the 2 waitresses were in the kitchen
3. Then you hear the tall skinny waitress and the cook get into an argument about him having an attitude with her
4. You hear the tall skinny waitress ask the cook to make another batch of my blueberry pancakes before the entire food order comes out
Not for anything, but it used to be if a place closed at 9, that meant you took your last customer at 9. It didn’t mean you tried to guilt trip customers who came in at 8:30 because you wanted to go home by 9. And let me tell you, that cook was out the door by 9, telling the other waitress good bye.
We are and always have been good tippers. If you stayed for us past the time, we are always appreciative, especially because Perkins is one of the closest restaurants to our home and nearest to our dojo. So, if they’ve stayed 15 to 30 minutes for our table they made their wage per hour plus another $20 – $30 for that time. Which, we still tipped for the time on Wednesday, but overall, that service, and visit, wasn’t worth it.
You guys have to remember that someone’s even if it stinks for you, you’re all some of us have on these nights. You’re already closing early cause it’s slow. It’s going to get a lot slower when your regular people stop coming cause you’re worried if we keep you over 30 minutes.
