You order through the kiosk/tablet grab a number and find a table. The space is minimalistic and clean. I ordered the Shrimp Katsu and Anshim Katsu. The shrimp Katsu was okay for me because it was a bit too crunchy, like clumps of panko were stuck together while breading. So that round the texture for me. The pork was perfect, so it made up for the shrimp. The pork was moist and tender. The miso was good, but nothing special and since I’m a sucker for curry I loved any curry. It added the needed flavor to boost the katsu. I’d recommend trying this place, but stick to the pork IMHO.

Excellent pork katsu hot and crispy, clean taste. The cabbage sauce was tasty and refreshing. The pasta salad and fried squid were also very yummy. Love the fact that they have Asahi beer on draft. Best combo for the fried food. A little bit of the Hawaiian lava sea salt and wasabi on the katsu also enhanced the taste many folds. Staff is friendly and Nikki told us how her mom has put lots of effort to make sure the food is delicious. Will come back again to try other dishes. The portion is very generous so it’s best to bring people to share them dining in.

The menu isn’t big but it’s enough. The pork katsu is simple, substantial and very good. Comes with rice, a shredded raw cabbage salad, and a small side of pickle. So simple yet so well done. I felt that the katsu was the best I’ve had in a long time and comparable to the stuff you get in Asia. I can’t comment on the non-pork katsu options they had; for me a katsu is pork or maybe chicken. A good restaurant doesn’t need to do many things, just a few things well such as here. The seating felt a bit close and tight to the next table, as the restaurant is not large. Not bad considering I had to stand to eat in some eateries in Japan.

I love this place! I went with my family and we ordered basically one of everything. The katsu was tender and the crust flaky and perfectly crispy. The cabbage salad was so thinly sliced and a perfect side to the katsu. I honestly cannot think of a better katsu I’ve had outside of one place in Tokyo. Highly recommend the cheese ball katsu. My kids asked if we could eat katsu every day!

I heard about this restaurant through Forum on KQED this morning. I promptly took my family there for lunch and it did not disappoint!
The ordering process was self service which was not very clear. We ordered two chicken breast katsu and one curry rice plate with katsu. We were served with water first and the curry rice plate came out soon after. The delicious pork katsu was declared excellent. Our chicken katsu came afterwards and it was SO good. The katsu were served with the best cabbage salad I’ve ever tasted, just right dipping sauce, crispy marinated daikon and sushi rice. And then, there’s the katsu- lightly battered, flakey with juicy insides- the best I’ve tasted outside of Japan. The $24 price is a lot for lunch but it is a copious amount of food and well worth it.

Best Korean cutlet I’ve tried! Very crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Worth the wait and every penny. A sip of cold draft beer followed by a bite of cheese cutlet is all it takes. The server was very enthusiastic and friendly, which really added to the vibe. Definitely coming back!

ive come here twice in the past few weeks and it’s been an amazing experience. both times i got the anshim katsu with miso soup. the katsu was flakey and light, unlike anything i’ve ever had before. i have the cheese katsu on my list to try next time i come.

the only downside the prices can be pretty steep. however, remember this is in the bay area where dining out can get pretty expensive. for the quality of the food and the ambiance, i feel like it’s a great place to eat every once in a while when you want something special.

Best katsu I’ve had. Incredibly tender and flavorful meat with light crispy breading. Decent portion size and I did not think I would be able to finish but it was so tasty that I did! Highly recommended.

SO DELICIOUS! Anyone who’s ever had mediocre katsu know how the meat can get all chewy and the breaded cutlet is so sharp that it hurts your gums. jungdon katsu’s meat is so tender and juicy and it’s cooked so well that it’s crunchy when you bite into it but the roof of your mouth won’t be crying.

Also the miso soup is legit. One of the criteria I use to judge the quality of a place is how bad or good the miso soup is. At some places, it’s so watered down that instant miso is better. Jungdon’s miso soup is legit!!

Terrible wait time (prob cuz they recently got written about) said estimated 30 min turned out to be an hour plus, but pretty freaking good pork katsu (chicken a bit dry) and refreshing, crunchy cabbage.
